Pros
Compensation for any positions pay a decent amount, compared to other places to work at, especially if you're a new graduate.
Cons
Consistently a revolving door depending on location. Some locations have a good branch culture and foster some work life balance. Others simply care about the bottom line without regard to hours worked or how sales were closed, as long as they had sales meet quota.
Pros
Cintas has good benefits and reasonable pay for the work performed. Information about new products and services are shared in bi-weekly meetings. A good job for a younger person looking to start a career. The company is well run and operates on solid ideals.
Cons
Although the vacation time is good, vacation election is based on seniority and the newer people are often left with less than desirable options. There are several paid holidays but the weeks around the holidays are normally blacked out so they can't be taken off. Trainings are often boring and unimaginative. Pay is partial commission so any negative billings affect your pay; this is especially frustrating when dealing with national accounts who pay less than the average customer to begin with.
Pros
So far Stable employment
Good People
Cons
Time Off
Dress Code
Get a job and stay in that job..no growth
Advice to Senior Management
Trust your employees and rely on them over outside consultants
Pros
* Great track record of operational success
* Focus on hourly "partners" from management
* Culture
Cons
* Culture (There are great upsides, but also leave a lot of room for abuse)
* No innovation or creativity allowed at local levels "Here's the playbook, now run it"
* Safety initiatives will drive managers away because they have created a "Zero Defect" environment
* GMs encouraged to do things that don't impact the top or bottom line, but look good in the peer group and win kudos from RBDs (Regional Business Directors)
Advice to Senior Management
* In striving for Safety perfection you are killing your morale and people.
* WAY too much "stick" and not enough "carrot"
* The culture talks about Positive Discontent but the operating environment discourages that
Pros
Cintas is hands down the best in their industry which makes it easier to compete in the marketplace. They continue to work on innovative products to maintain the top spot. They have definitely increased their focus on employee retention by holding their managers accountable to turnover. This has created a much more engaging environment.
Cons
There used to be (and sometimes still are) competing scorecards between sales and operations. As a result, overall goals can sometimes conflict with one another between the two sides.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to focus on employee engagement as it is truly making a difference. It is very obvious that employees are becoming more and more engaged as they are realizing this initiative is not just the "flavor of the month".
Pros
It's another great company to have on your resume, they have great notariaty and are a good work ethic standard! The Blue collar Guys and Gals delivering the uniforms mats and towels are a great group of people!
Cons
Upper level Management was devious and manipulative, Location philosophy was "Take care of Cintas now and they will take care of you in the future" . I moved up the ladder from a Sales Service Rep. to a Sales Trainer. so I bought into the philosophy for a little while untill I saw what really was happing at the location behind close doors. The desire to have Family Men and Women work at the location wasn't for the atmosphere as much as it was for entrapment. They bring new meaning to getting blood from a stone. I was put in harms way a number of times while picking up and delivering materials to clients due to the lack of communication and ethics of sales manangement. 5am Meetings 3 days a week and your expected to stay till the last bell tolls. I saw my Wife and kids less than any other job I had, and say good by social life!
Advice to Senior Management
If you want the most out of people you have, give them the abbility to suceed! Create job position standards and have the locations hold true to them. Belive in your People and allow them to suceed and the profits will follow.
Pros
Encourages a good work ethic
Reasonable base-pay compensation
Encourages reserve-component duty
Cons
Corporate culture is oppressive (Drink the kool-aid!)
A lot of flavor-of-the-week initiatives/ideas (today the focus of our business is etc.)
Still waiting for payment of performance based bonus (60 plus days after end of fiscal year, and don't get me started on the fact I haven't even seen a quarterly one since I've been there!)
Advice to Senior Management
Completely train your middle managers (in other words, get them qualified to do their job!), and then enable them to perform. Constant visits from Group/Corporate leadership is nothing more than a distraction, vs "in-the-trenches, lead from the front!" leadership
Pros
Plenty of hours given, worked 50+ hours a week cleaning, had full route, always given more work to do weekly. Lots of OT.
Cons
Promised help/split route for 1 year, never happened, always next month. Management does NOT do what they promise. They EXPECT you to do what they ask IMMEDIATELY, but anything they promise can be withheld for as long as it suites them. They told me no more business on my route then put another job on it. Lies, lies, lies.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't over work employee's, we have a life outside of Cintas. When you promise it, do it NOW.
Pros
Ok Benefits
Decent Salary
Experience
Oppurtunity for Advancement
Cons
Poor work/life balance
Long Hours (hrs were 5am to 6:30pm)
Severly Under Staffed
Most of my time was in warehouse doing meticlious work or covering a SSR's route with no route book.
High Stress
Advice to Senior Management
Stop promoting the MT position as this great position when realistically its just a way for mgmt to work you 70hrs and only pay you for 40hrs. The MT position is largley dependent on working for a profitiable and efficient location. If you work for a under-performing location you will suffer.
Pros
4 day work week was very nice, benefits are good as well. No weekend work, only an occasional training session on Saturday.
Cons
Very hard work for very low pay. They constantly reminded you that YOU were the face of the business, YOU were Cintas, but the pay sure didn't reflect it.
Advice to Senior Management
Increase your pay to some of the "frontline" staff. If they truly are Cintas, then they need to feel appreciated!
