Pros
Pay and benefits were great. Culture of caring and sharing. People believed in the company and were attached to its success.
Cons
Going bankrupt and having to cast about for work is something i'd rather not repeat.
Pros
Great Training
Fun Work Environment
Exciting Technologies
Cons
Lower Pay
No Commission
Poor Corporate Management
Advice to Senior Management
Restore Commission
Don't Fire Most Experienced Employees
Pros
Career advancement, compensation, envronment, policy, aggressive, and the people. They really were good people to work with and Circuit was really a good company.
Cons
Unprofessionalism, not changing in time, follower not leader
Advice to Senior Management
Change so people would stay with the company
Pros
It was an easy part time job
Cons
The store was mismanaged, but it worked
Advice to Senior Management
Doesn't matter because they don't exist anymore
Pros
There is a variety of restaurants and food to eat from around so u wont get tired of the same thing over and over. People are friendly and try to help when your new.
Cons
People always come to you with problems so u must deal with it as best as possible keeping yourself from going nuts...
Advice to Senior Management
Try to be more lenient towards your workers. Also more meetings about what could be improved would be great too.
Pros
Circuit City had among some of the best benefits of any retailer I had been employed at. Its 401(k) and health plans were great. Plus, the PTO accrual was decent.
Cons
Circuit City was a top heavy company, that relied on a overpaid executive staff. When they let people go, only a few months later executives were given fat bonuses, even though we were told the firings were to save money. They hemmoraged money from a top heavy corporate side.
They also had a major problem with advancement from within. Too often someone from outside the company was brought into a higher position, with higher pay, and they often did not have skills capable to be a leader.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't really need to offer feedback, due to the fact that this company is no longer the same incarnation I work for. I hope Tiger Direct can do a better job with the brand, because it could still shine.
Pros
Loved the job and the people I worked with. It was a good job for that time in my life, and allowed me to get my foot into a bigger IT position elsewhere.
Cons
They downsized their "overpaid" staff. In the process they also got rid of many of their more intelligent employees that really made Circuit City a place people enjoyed shopping at.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't get rid of the people that allow you to have your oversized salaries. The management in the store works too hard, while the people outside of the store are never seen.
Pros
Fix computers, meet new people, family like work environment, good pay, benefits not bad. drove company vehicle. short commute about 10 minutes
Cons
too many bosses. Had to ask a comity to get anything approved. too many sales quotas. unrealistic goals that did not make any sense
Advice to Senior Management
Never get rid of people who actually know the products and how to sell. So what if non management made more than store manager. Thats because he knew the products
Pros
Fun people to work with, decent pay, get to watch football while you work on every sunday, pretty decent discount
Cons
Terrible management, no room for growth, the company did not listen to what employees thought about how the company could be improved
Advice to Senior Management
you should listen to your employees and stop making them do all the work while you sit back and yell when people "are just looking"
Pros
Large IT department offers several opportunities for internal growth and carrer path shifting. Decent salary. Challenging projects when there was something to work on.
Cons
Boring and entrenched management and managers. Not enough to work to do at times. Morale was constantly low with all the layoffs
Advice to Senior Management
See what's working at BestBuy and take it one level up.
