Pros
The people were great and overall the best I've worked with in my career.
Cons
Management made snap decisions without sufficient data to support the long term decisions. Too many short term decisions were made for too long.
Advice to Senior Management
You blew it.
Pros
Requirements manageable, systems very helpful. good management in stores
Cons
Travel, communication from management to store line employees
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
Lots of fun.
Great discounts and vendor accommodations
Lots of training
Cons
Firing of senior employees to save money
awful CEO
Advice to Senior Management
Got rid of the CEO too late.
Pros
This was a great company to work for. There people were always fun, great opportunities but the pay was really not great for how much time one put into the company.
Cons
Pay pay pay or lack thereof. Greedy CEO cause the company to go under. Too many knowledgeable people were fired simply because they got paid like deserving employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Ceo should really make sure that the staff is well paid and happy in order to keep employees happy which will then in turn lead to happy customers and maybe the company wouldn't have gone under.
Pros
At the time the hourly rate for this position was better than many retail position, and it was the highest paying sales job in the store.
Cons
Management was always watching me. It made the job a bit stressful. No incentives for selling warranties or expensive products.
Advice to Senior Management
Give more guidance on how to more effectively sell. Don't just tell me to sell sell sell, teach!!! And dont always watch me.
Pros
Friendly atmosphere, helpful management, Cool coworkers
Cons
Sometimes a little disorganized
They hire naive kids
Advice to Senior Management
Overall, I enjoyed my time here while it lasted( went out of business). It was a fun experience.
Pros
People working there were great. Learned a great deal about hardware and software through their Firedog learning program as well as through experience.
Cons
Taking a turn for the worse has really affected their business. It is quite noticeable that the policies have changed, so communication is often difficult. Before Chapter 11, it was clear working in the store that bad things were happening, but nothing was said, even internally. The workplace could have been more organized, but overall it wasn't bad to work there.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't spend billions of dollars on promises that you can't keep.
Pros
Good Pay and Benefits. Fun people to work with. Good technology.
Cons
Can be alot of hours once you become a manager. High level corporate management didnt understand what customer wanted. Not enough hourly associates to cover sales floor and not enough hours budgeted for good customer service.
Advice to Senior Management
Change less. Customers became confused by so much strategy changing.
Pros
Great Company to grow with throughout the years. It's too bad that the upper management did not take care of the company.
Cons
Out of business, which is sad since the operations were solid. We had very poor upper management that ignored our customers and employees needs.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't do what CC did by ignoring your customers and employees needs. Change for the better, not to just change.
Pros
The people were friendly and it was a pretty solid place to work. It's really too bad it went out of business.
Cons
The only real downside to working at Circuit City was the corporate leadership running us into the ground. At the store level it was a great place to work.
Advice to Senior Management
Store level leadership was superb, corporate level was lacking, as is obvious with the fact that Circuit City is no longer in business.
