Advice to Senior Management
Good Environment , Diverse , Biggest Network. Be A hard Worker
Pros
Good benefits package for employees and raises yearly. Good at recognizing employees who met or exceeded sales goals. Mostly friendly management staff.
Cons
Forced to peddle "warranty packages" in order to meet monthly targets even to customers to whom they did not apply. Usually schedule everyone on holidays.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on making employees more knowledgeable about what they are selling. Allow more leniency for scheduling. Reward employees who show initiative to learn new things.
Pros
Circuit City was a very professionally run business. My checks were never late, my hours were rather consistent, and I could pretty much get time off anytime I want.
Cons
It was clear that there was a set way of doing things with little room for experimentation. It's probably the reason the company closed.
Advice to Senior Management
Had anyone been opening to listening to some advice, I would have told them to be more aggressive in price matching of online retailers and offer more services you can't find anywhere else.
Pros
Really great job while it lasted... Very happy and great opportunity to grow my skill set. management was awesome
Cons
training was a bit lacking, as was the overall vision and direction of the company. there seemed to be a bit of a disconnect between the district team and the stoer managers.
Advice to Senior Management
The ball has dropped, but in retrospect there needed to be more financial controls in place... I regret the demise of the company.
Pros
best reasons to work here, schedule, co workers, that is it.
Cons
upper management, lower management, middle management.
Advice to Senior Management
hire some professionals to do the managing not morons.
Pros
they had good benefits, hourly pay was ok,you worked alot of hours to get good pay. and you had weekends off
Cons
Too many long hours. Some days in peak season you will work up to 18 hours. management was very bad, they did not care about their employees.
Advice to Senior Management
there is no leadership at circiut city ,very bad management ,This is why circuit city went out of business two years ago.
Pros
Coworkers. Simple job to get paid for and nothing else. No future as you can see how the company folded.
Cons
MICROmanaging. When any big company is bored, they decide its best to nitpick everything from your salespitch to your nametag if you are wearing one or not. Pay never increasing due to " inside " review. Hours were horrid. Full time and you get schedule 22 hrs a week? Seriously? With funny schedules like 6-9 close. Who can live like that? Management being incompetent, not knowledgable on products. Just barking out orders from corporate. Policies always changing.
Advice to Senior Management
Hahaha this is funny since I actually left the company at the end of 2005 cause I knew it would go under eventually.
Pros
people i worked with were fun and nice
programs that incentivized sales - gave prizes for good store department performance
Cons
management was terrible
all male employees
had to promote certain products, weren't always worth it for the customer
pay, benefits
Advice to Senior Management
obviously management was terrible, company went under... people could have brains and actually do something other than walk around the store
Pros
Easy going crowd and great people to work with. Management knew what was going on and the structure of the operations was good.
Cons
It closed and I got laid off. Twice!
Advice to Senior Management
Managers need to reward the well performing sales staff with incentives.
Pros
Awesome people to work with, loved the ping pong table and x-box in the break room. generally a very good overall experince
Cons
Pushing product you didnt belive in. pushing software that the customer didnt need. pushing warrenties which didnt really help the customer with there most frequent problems
Advice to Senior Management
what is there to say. this company no longer exists. and advice i would have would fall on deaf ears.
