    I have been working at Circuit City full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    goods never had an A++
    A typical work day is 8 - 5 and you sell online advertisements. Days consist of meeting, calls, training, and office activities.

    Learned how to sell, cold call, negotiate, communicate B2B.

    Hardest part of job is resisting the free food. Most enjoyable is being on the phones and talking to different people.

    Management: A+
    Co-Workers: A++

    I worked at Circuit City full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Large company, innovative, great training programs. Kept things lean, but also had wonderful cafeteria. Central operations were all in fairly close range, so not much travel was involved. Open door policy that was comfortable to work with

    Cons

    The IT department was a little 'Dilbert' like. Standard builds were kept to technology that was several years old, and would change frequently.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Training was great, much appreciated! Standards could have used a little more advise from the tech staff, going to the rock bottom line on price on hardware is not always a good idea. High level mismanagement, or mismatch of software / equiptment to the purpose at hand tended to get blamed on the person who carried out the orders, not the source who actually made the decisions.

    I worked at Circuit City full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    When they were around...

    Working at Circuit City was a great place. The competitive commission environment taught you how to be aggressive and be the best salesperson you could be.

    They helped build great salespeople through training training training. From product training, to one-on-one's with upper management. The Circuit City of the late '90's was an excellent place to work and grow.....until....

    Cons

    The biggest challenge was overcoming politics, as with any company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    They should have kept the commission environment instead of changing to the Best Buy model...they'd probably still be in business.

    It was a great experience as a high school student

    I worked at Circuit City part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Circuit City had a relaxing environment, offered flexible scheduling, and had young, vibrant employees. Training was easy and concise. The hiring process was also a breeze. I had great supervisors.

    Cons

    The opportunity to be promoted was not easily offered, and there was not much job security as Circuit City is no longer in business. There could have been better training on the products that we were selling.

  11.
