I worked at Cisco Systems India full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    flexibility
lots of choices/options and if you are really determined, you can push ahead

    Cons

As with any big company, lots of levels in the hierarchy and as a result too much of managers and people with overlapping roles in the middle mgmt.
Each BU or sometimes each project is like a separate company and the team culture depends on how the individual managers act.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you really want to grow, listen to the employees at the lowest 3/4 levels more. They are the folks who do the actual work.

I have been working at Cisco Systems India as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Cisco gives lot of flexibility in terms of number of hours, work from home option.

    Cons

No hike every year. Every quarter there is compulsory lay off .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think before laying off the employees. If this culture continues, people will not be interested to join the company.
Instead of hiring new people and laying off old people, better train the existing employees if they are lagging
