I have been working at Cisco Systems India full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

While not known for high salaries, the perks if you use them are many and varied. Particularly child care, gym, transport, health care centre. A wide variety of trainings are available, and people are encouraged to take them. Flexible working hours and work from home is great. If you have a good manager and your BU is doing well, its a good place to stay. The campus is beautiful and very pleasant to work in.

    Cons

Growth path is mostly uncertain and unclear. A lot depends on the BU you are in. There is huge hierarchy and a lot of redundancy in management. Since the last 2 years, there is yearly restructuring of BUs, yearly layoffs impact productivity. Many of lower grade employees tend to leave within a year or 2. At higher grades, people get entrenched in their roles and there is no scope for growth. Hikes have been absent for 2 years. Bonus is delayed by 6 months and not likely to paid in full this year.

Management has a tendency to take up a fad *marketing* initiative once a year before their appraisals. This is usually forgotten with no follow ups soon after the appraisals are done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create avenues for horizontal growth. After a point, if there is no growth opportunity, no hikes, no bonuses, and yearly layoffs, people will wonder why they still stick around.
