more innovation.
Pros
1. Good Benefits / Pay Package
2. Good on-site facilities
3. Good talented pool of engineers
Cons
1. Bad bonus awarding model - high politics for higher bonuses, ratings, promotions
2. Lot of politics, lobby, groupism
3. Less focus on innovation
4. Differentiation of contractors
5. Too many number of contractors
Pros
flexibility for remotely working is a true blessing in disguise. due to high cost of living, many move further east towards the likes of dublin and pleasanton among other areas to take advantage of the solid school systems and housing costs there. there's an on-site gym; not free, but not terribly expensive either with just above basic amenities. every group within cisco is like it's own small company under the big umbrella. for the most part, it can be nice, but when it comes to budget and headcount cuts, many business units have to make very difficult decisions, despite fairly confusing strategems from above (i.e. moving into and dominating consumer space, but leaving before a clear indication of losing %s, which affects many jobs)
Cons
strategy is seemingly too volatile year to year, not long enough to seriously gestate in the case of several business markets. recognition not too common if you're not in the hip pocket of managers and other prominent folks, but it's not like it's dramatically different anywhere else. just that for a company as large as cisco is, particularly with how deep pockets to hold its sizable cash reserve, it's fairly remarkable that cisco still is befallen to layoffs.
Advice to Senior Management
after cutting off peer recognition in the form of CAP rewards, remarkably difficult to reintroduce the concept without a basis for many. as far as corporate management, pretty dubious a few calls for head count and budget cuts particularly during a time frame they continuously bask in the glow of making very poignant acquisitions, yet haven't returned a considerable amount from investment yet. if that was the message the entire time, why enforce head count cuts?
Pros
Cisco is still a big name with solid technology, 20 days of vacation per year, a lot of onsite services.
Cons
way too political, management forces teams to change every minor details like which day we start and end the sprint, painful tools to support process.
Advice to Senior Management
leave us alone
Pros
Flex hour for the employee
Cons
Cisco had change over the years. The sr mgr keep cutting every year
Advice to Senior Management
Stop sending job out source
Pros
Excellent leadership and direction. Management team does a great job of articulating the direction company is heading, and the roles that each person needs to play. Very good work balance overall, and there seems to be good recognition for people producing good performance.
Cons
Compensation seems to lag behind the industry, and with the stock prices not being at its high, the monetary motivation can be a little low.
