    ConsCisco is a large company and can be impersonal. Contractors have few chances to become a Cisco badged employee.

    Huge company, horrible communication and organization, lack of benefits for contractors, operates on mostly contractors.

    ProsSeems to be a team oriented organization. Lots of collaboration encouraged, overtime seems to be expected and encouraged, facilities are generally accommodating.

    ConsHuge company. Mostly contractors, probably more contractors than permanent employees. Department heads, directors, and managers seem to have too much power, and if they get offended by your trying to help the team they'll fire you. Communication is horrible. Organization of departments and information are worse. IWE (Webex Social) was implemented as the internal social wiki, and it is not conducive to information organization or communication.

    Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your employees! Get rid of WebEx Social! If your employees or contractors are telling you something that you take offense to or are averse to, maybe there is a reason for it. Instead of just getting someone fired, hold a webex and listen to them! Explain why they offended you and ask if that was what they meant. If you don't fix this it'll destroy the company.

    Good company, geting very difficult to be promoted

    ProsSmart individual contributors, great use of technology that makes jobs easier and work at home easier, people almost always willing to work with you and help you

    ConsGetting very difficult to be promoted. Management often better individual contributors than managers. Numerous layoffs last few years is getting tiresome, and having the executives make excuses for why they do it is even moreso.

    Advice to Senior ManagementPeople wil continue to leave if you do not make a way to promote good contributors. Require all people managers to get official anonymous 360 feedback on their performance and manage out those who are poor managers

    I love Cisco but you are overworked, unappreciated, underpaid and they don't want anything but "yes" people.

    ProsWork remotely, good benefits, accommodating to family issues.

    ConsToo political, promotion by cronyism. It is not what you know that allows you to get ahead, it is who you know. The rating and ranking system does not work, a good employee can get rated with Needs Improvement just because a metric needs to be met. You are not rated on your actual value.

    Advice to Senior ManagementBring back some of the good people you just let go, and look beyond favoritism to when making decisions to lay people off. Change the rating and ranking program, a good employee should not be marked as Needs Improvement because one manager in the meeting has a more over powering presence than another one.

    Advice to Senior ManagementGlobal restructuring when we've had record profits and performance means I and countless other contractors (not mentioned in the cutback announcement) am SOL and job hunting again, despite great work. John Chambers can spin it all he wants....this is corporate greed at it's finest. Outsourcing jobs to India when the Americas made the record profits so stakeholders get good payouts and he gets a big retirement umbrella. Contractors MAKE the company money - so my personal professional opinion is that Cisco (John Chambers) is HURTING the company and countless contractors with this decision.

    Great place to work, fun people, great work environment !!

    Pros-Happy people, everyone has fun
    -Cooperative workplace, not cutthroat environment
    -Great opportunities, get a foot in the door and you can go anywhere

    Cons-Getting a foot in the door can be difficult, try, try again
    -Can be a little difficult to get into the right spot initially, most people start in basic job, then transfer to right department
    -Some positions can be a little stressful, but most is created by individual, very easy to manage if well equipped

    Advice to Senior ManagementHad some recent bad news in workforce shrinking, but nothing day to day should be affected
