I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefit and nice people working around, flexible working hours. Good inside training opportunities.

    Cons

Slow paced, projects vary by teams. Some may get pretty cutting-edge projects, some might not. Infrequent incentive and promotions

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

need to keep up with the market, salary wise and benefit wise, to keep great talents stay, also, the management structure needs to get more flat.

I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Top leader in networking: switching, routing. Customer focused. Employee is empowered to take ownership, risks.
Very loyal customer base. Overall quality of product is pretty good.

    Cons

Law of size is catching up (70k+ employee), becoming less agile and too many failed projects. Considered more of a hardware focused networking company than software/application providers. Diluted responsibility in senior executive level of management

I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Still a good place to be. Morale took some dings over the last few years, with annual layoffs and the institution of a horrible, ill-conceived "stack ranking" system that effectively incented employees to claw and scratch their way above others, while undermining your colleagues instead of collaborating for results. Thankfully, the horrible stack ranking system is finally on its way out. There are some exciting things happening in product development, and a buzz of energy I haven't felt for a while.

    Cons

As with any big company, it's sometimes difficult to be nimble. Leadership needs to do a better job at setting priorities, and sticking to them, and communicating effectively.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I worked at Cisco Systems

    Pros

My overall experience with Cisco was very, very good. I joined via an acquisition a number of years ago and the experience was excellent. Cisco was very good about being decisive and making changes quickly in order to proceed and advance on emerging strategies.

    Cons

Better training / mentoring for folks new to Cisco as it is a beast to navigate and understand how things work. Most of my management team was excellent and folks I respected however my last manager was clearly out for him/herself only and made a career of positioning him/herself above the team.
