Pros
The flexibility was good- especially if you commuted a distance
Cons
GM was horrible- until he was released from his job, 3 months after i moved on.
Pros
An incredible boss. Great co-workers. an over all positive place to work.
Cons
Cumulus Media bought it and it was the end of Citadel Broadcasting that was so wonderful.
Pros
Great Management locally. Super products.
Cons
Don't make as much money as peers in market
Pros
Radio industry is interesting, some talented people work hard to win
Cons
management is disconnected, especially after long term general manager quit
Advice to Senior Management
find a better parent company
Pros
Good place to learn basic media math and how the sales process works.
Cons
Very little training and very little room for growth.
Pros
relaxed atmosphere, something different all the time, not tied to a desk all day
Cons
Minimal chance for career growth, recently filed for bankruptcy, slim chance for a salary raise - no cost of living raise, lack of appreciation for employees
Advice to Senior Management
Respect and appreciate your employees more. Some positions work hard to pride, not money. A little respect and appreciation goes a long way.
Pros
Fun co workers and fun events
Cons
No room for growth, management shows favoritism.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat the lowly folks with respect.
Pros
Not stuck in the office all day
Cons
Tough to sell "air" and often times there is overlap in targeted demographis. It's cut throat, and some reps will backstab and try to steal accounts. My advice, "Shank'em" (not thank...metaphorically SHANK them) when they try to steal your account you shut them down.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on continuing skills development, particularly with sales stratagies for intangible products.
Pros
Family-like atmosphere and the ability to contributre to the organization. Management fosters innovation and ideas, and employees feel that they are valued.
Cons
Wages could be a littel better, sometimes the bathrooms could be attended to a little more dilligently. The vans tend to be a little dirty/or cluttered.
Advice to Senior Management
Work on the cleanliness of the bathrooms, make sure people take pride in the vans that they use to promote the station.
Pros
It has been my experience that Citadel Broadcasting is a fair-minded organization that takes the well-being of its employees seriously. The powers that be seem to understand that employee satisfaction and happiness equates to increased profitibility for the company. On a local level, accessibility of management is good and they seem willling to try new concepts and consider new ideas.
Cons
The "good-ole-boy's" network is still in effect. It seems that those individuals who play the kiss-up game go farther in their careers than those who do not. Also, women in upper management is very rare.
Advice to Senior Management
Look at changing things up a bit by giving more management opportunities to qualified individuals within the company. Look at non-tradional sources for air talent and management.
