I have been working at Citi full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

They give you a little money, health, dental, and vision benefits.

    Cons

Toxic environment caused by lack of accountability from management and senior management. Employees are rewarded for avoiding doing their actual jobs, due to the political environment. Opportunities for advancement are constantly thwarted, and external talent will always be recognized before internal. Managers and especially operations managers do not ensure equal treatment of employees or take concerns seriously. No real focus on quality of service or training. Changes to products and service are not based on client or employee experience or feedback. Many agents have to take antianxiety or antidepressant medication to function in their roles day to day. Bed bugs are a constant threat and the bathrooms are never clean. Pay is not at all competitive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more transparent. Learn what your agents actual responsibilities are. Stop permitting abusive tactics by agents that are detrimental to your goal.

    Pros

Citi has been around forever, so there is a sense of security working there.
Great benefits that start up front

    Cons

Its a call center and you never forget that for a moment. There is a very drone like feeling you get working there.
Upper management is disconnected from regular employees

    Pros

The time off is the best you will find. They have good health benefits and many departments that you could go to.

    Cons

The management or lack of management is the reason I left this company. They don't know proper procedures or care to know. You will be challenged to deal with the lack of a clean work area. For over the 5 years I worked here you would have to deal with bed bug scare once a week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a job that you put effort into.

    Pros

Great team unity, great benefits I really enjoyed the environment. This was a call center so each day could be very stressful but management really did a good job of keeping teams engaged.

    Cons

moved you around constantly with call volumes changing you never knew where you might be. There was also a lack of consistency in management.

    I worked at Citi full-time

    Pros

Pay has an edge in being competitive. Other benefits opportunities are top notch. Promotes volunteering and community service. On TANK bus route. Quick access to freeway. Plenty of fast food places nearby ... but Citi's cafeteria is THE BEST I've ever seen.

    Cons

Training will either make or break you. For this new department to the Kentucky facility, training was sorely inadequate and incomplete. While instructors were very nice, many were new to Teaching. However they occasionally gave conflicting info on procedures. Middle management members made so many big process decisions that flip flopped often. Communication and implementation was not consistent, But Was IMPROVING. My experience there is that for a global company that's over 200 years old, I'm very disappointed in the lack of effective training and follow through from there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Revisit the Values, Principles, Objectives, and Elements. Quit spending time on thinking of the new catch phrase mottos that will motivate and produce. Reinforce the wisdom of what you already have. Allow honesty from employees to show you some of their reality. Finally, lessen the micro-management. Does the amount of time spent detailing productivity ... same information in multiple ways and programs that don't "speak" to each other ... how effective are these reports? Allow employees to focus on their jobs you hired them to do.

I worked at Citi full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Offers great health, dental, 401k, and maternity benefits
good way to get back in to the work force
plenty of time off including discretionary time (sick time) and vacation time
    full time permanent work

    Cons

Worked on the phone the entire shift
consistently pressured for high sales, and low call time despite customer needs
logging of all time off of the phone, such as bathroom breaks, etc
management seemed unable to find creative ways to meet the needs of their employees
transferring between departments was extremely difficult unless a good rapport with upper management is established
