I have been working at Citi full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Remote work is awesome for a work life balance. I work with some very intelligent people. Lot's of room to grow and learn existing technologies.

    Cons

As a software developer i want to stay away from making widgets. I want to work on projects that are interesting, and give me a chance to build new technologies. Citi as a company isn't focused on this. They care about reducing cost (as they should), stockholder perception (as they should), etc. I am projecting my career goals here; however, there are limited opportunities to invent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should not survey it's employee for better ways to manage. If your a manager / leader / officer of the company isn't that your job? It's frustrating to know big bonuses are being paid to managers who get told how to be better. If the idea is mine shouldn't i get a cut????

I have been working at Citi full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Global bank that will allow for you to grow in many different departments within the company. A good work life balance at Citi.

    Cons

Citi has an opportunity when it comes to pay and pay increase, but in the end everyone feels that way about the job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep seeking talented people who want to build a career and not just a paycheck. That is why Citi has been in the marketplace since 1912.

    Pros

Benefits are great, its a great work / life balance. And my team and manager is great. Very cultural atmosphere.

    Cons

A micro management atmosphere. If you log on too early you are in trouble, if you log on too late you are in trouble.
Very strict, and the pay sucks.

Uninspiring leadership, lack of female leadership - glass ceiling, nice benefits, easy to make a mid level career there.

I have been working at Citi full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Some line's of business allow the ability to work from home (salaried employees C12 and above), but warning that now many require being on IM all the time and on video/camera make you feel micro managed when working from home. Nice benefits on vacation, sick and holiday time off for salaried employees.

    Cons

Get as much money as you can upon initial hire. Big promotions come with small bumps in pay for twice the responsibility, stress, and hours. Raises and annual bonuses went from great to pathetic in the last 7 years. The office environment lacks passion and inspiration. The culture is dead, especially the Regent campus. Too many contractors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reduce the number of contractors, bring in people who will stay IF you find a way to do raises that at least meet inflation. Things like VOE(Voice of the employee) are a joke, no impactful/meaningful change ever comes of it. Also, too many duplicate teams across all lines of business - need to centralize so you don't have 5 people chasing the same thing.

I have been working at Citi full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Citi may offer competitive benefits, except for health insurance

    Cons

There is very poor internal meritocracy and have NO means to promote employees. It has become a political place and hard place to stay longer
Senior Management is on the wall street
Hiring decent people has been a challenge in my team

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Forget about 'VOE' and Listen To Employee (LTE)
Build positive image for Citi, NOT by just compensation.
