    Citi Review

Associate (Current Employee) London, England (UK)

ProsThe best place to learn the business of banking
Flexibility in terms of which area of the bank you would like to work in

    ConsLots of red tape
Parts tend to be very heirarchical
Performance (or lack of it) isnt rewarded. However, political abilities are highly valued

Advice to Senior ManagementCurrently, the orginization is orginized by product. Break it up and reoginize into a client segment focused orginization which makes use of all products

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

A true career, within a global company

Director (Former Employee) London, England (UK)

ProsYou name it, you can do it as a career, within the vast company. There is a true sense of value of all staff, and generally, management are supportive

ConsFinance is fickle, and the market changes frequently. The blinkered need to achieve a (say) 10% cut again... coupled with frustrating bureaucracy... can make it hard work to simply raise a purchase order!

Advice to Senior ManagementEncourage the team to work through the processes, and simplify - not just to work around!

    Its bad in here.

Vice President (Former Employee) London, England (UK)

ProsYou are in a banking domain

ConsLife is miserable if you do not have good network.

They recruit for a role of C13 and congratulate you with an offer. Later you see that they offer you a C12.

There is no drive for internal employees. The internal employees will work more number of years to see that someone lesser able with less experience are hired at a more greater pay.

If you have left the job at this company and you have shared your mobile number then they will call and haunt you and bug you with (how to do this and how to do that).
People leave and contractors are hired. Contractors leave and new bunch of contractors are hired.

It is funny to know that few contractors are working for more than 3 years. The amount of money spent on a contractor is 3-4 times paid to a citi employee yet neither citi employee is given a hike nor the contractor is made permanent.

Similar projects are repeated in the project / product life cycle. An entire project gets delivered in say Java. Later the same would get delivered in .NET. (The reasons given are funny like improved look and feel or new features)

I have seen projects where there are 4-6 managers and 2-3 developers working on a project. Each manager has a different meeting scheduled for each developer. The developer has no time to develop and busy in meetings.

Advice to Senior ManagementIts useless to give advice as it would back fire on you. (Its no good to write against anyone in appraisal reviews as they would get to know who has written what)

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Positive

Vice President (Former Employee) London, England (UK)

ProsVery professional, with unparalleled global reach, most of the people have very diverse and highly valuable backgrounds, working in a team oriented environment

ConsCan be too beaurocratic, internal decsion making can take long times, nothing specific about the company itself but the tightening regulatory regime is making it mre difficult to make bsuiness

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

    Rewarding

Business Analyst (Former Employee) London, England (UK)

ProsIt's a company everyones knows and helps set the standards.
They are great at managing their workforce and providing opportunities for progression

ConsIt's a behemoth and it can feel like you are swimming against the tide at times due to the enormity of the workforce.
An A,erican bank, so you get a bitto much happy clappy HR at times

Advice to Senior ManagementConsolidate before expansion

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
