I have been working at Citi full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Work/life balance
Good benefits (onsite amenities could be better)
    Relatively fast moving
    Diverse
Great locations/buildings (388 Greenwich in NYC looks awesome inside/out)

    Cons

The technology is behind. The CTO/CIO needs to embrace new technology fast. They should provide super fast development machines, access to cutting edge technology trainings and drive the business to adopt new technology. The user interface of most applications are outdated. They really need to spend money on how customers are using their applications and change the UI design of every single application.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1) Instead of doing same old and holding the fort, get out and think differently.
    2) You should also force rotate people and put them in different teams, so employees will learn how Citi as a whole works.
    3) Learn from Google/Facebook on how to treat employees by bringing better onsite amenities. Spend some money on employees instead of losing in Forex market.
    4) Put technology in center piece of everything you do.
    5) Hire really smart people and not just average people whose goals are to pay mortgage and tuition for their kids.

I worked at Citi full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Work was interesting and challenging. Banking applications present unique challenges in terms of both security and transaction volume, so the work was never boring. Colleagues were in general smart and capable. Was fortunate to work on a talented team with a great management hierarchy. Compensation and benefits were competitive.

    Cons

Unfortunately most of our work was moving to Texas, so I decided to seek other opportunities locally rather than relocate. Sometimes the hours were brutal.

I worked at Citi full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great work life balance. Worked exclusively from home for last 2 years of employment.

    Cons

Little chance to move up in my department. No raises for 2 years. Small bonuses.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Doesn't much matter since this division is being sold. Maybe the next owner will turn a profit and provide bonuses or increases to its employees.

I have been working at Citi full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Good raises and decent pay helps. Just make sure you get what you want when you come in and before you commit.

    Cons

Office culture is brutal. The culture is filled with politics, competitions and fighting. Things take forever to get done. Also ,the culture is work harder to compensate. The hiring practices are not standardized across LOBs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Standardize hiring processes. HR should not take months to hire people. Also, there is a disconnect between what your manager can do for you and what they promise you.

More one on one time to foster manager/employee relationship.

    Pros

World class name and foot print
    Wealth of opportunities to learn

    Cons

Too big to make any individual contribution count
Organizational changes come sweeping outside of any group's control

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is a VOE-Voice of the employer survey in the company, it is a great exercise, but can only work if it is done sincerely instead of formality. Groups run by managers and not leaders, worry more about senior management's ability to lead an not just manage.

I have been working at Citi full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The work-life balance has been great, the teams are generally a lot of fun.

    Cons

The compensation is terrible. In 5 years there have been minimum to no increases as a top rated employee I have only received an increase of 4 percent with a bonus of 4 percent. Being an dedicated employee who is underpaid this is very fustrating.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Compensation needs to change. Employees who are not productive are not reprimanded and this is terrible for the people who actually care.
