I worked at Citi as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

All of my superiors were easy to work with, smart and willing to help me improve. I learned a lot from my time at Citi PB, because I was willing to put my head down and work hard. But to be honest, it wasn't that laborious because my co-workers were all so helpful.

    Cons

IT was terrible throughout my time working there. I constantly had issues with computers, getting access, etc. My first two weeks were difficult because of how little I could get done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try and create some pride within the organization. Lots of people are thinking about their next move.

I worked at Citi as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Very down to earth people & culture, didn't have one bad encounter
The people I got to work with are very smart & they really try to teach you well
The pay as a summer intern is pretty good especially with overtime paying 1.5X
Got actual projects instead of the usual intern busy work
Great social events with the team.
    Had a great manager.

    Cons

The hours weren't bad usually, about 45 hrs/wk but that's because I was an intern but my manager & the junior analyst on my team pulled in heavy hours & even worked weekends at times.
Can be a very stressful time during quarter end.
The increased regulations have become really time demanding for FP&A.
High turnover in FP&A because it's so demanding.
Upper management does seem to be very bureaucratic.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find ways to make monthly/quarterly projects more seamless especially considering that a vast majority of the time spent for FP&A is on monthly financial outlooks. I was really surprised to see that every single month the outlook would change dramatically when there's no real rationale behind a complete change.
To upper management: Try to bit a less demanding of your VPs & Directors. They worked really hard and upper management constantly asked for changes to a project or at times completely changed the project. Maybe try hiring more analysts to help out the team.

    Pros

Competitive compensation, talented people that appreciate a good work life balance, or try to strive for it anyway. Good career growth, leadership, passion to do the right thing for the customer.

    Cons

Slow moving big bank bureaucracy. Incredible complex infrastructure. Politics, rather than customer driven. Tries to innovate but systemically challenged to execute on promises.

I have been working at Citi full-time

    Pros

Solid benefits (401k match on 6%, cheap healthcare plans available, flexible work schedules)

    Cons

Low pay, highly political environment. Very hard for outsiders to thrive despite skill and expertise in the field.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Performance review process needs to be more transparent. It should not be possible get excellent employee ratings with minimal to no reward for it. Process should more closely reflect performance/reward and be clearly outlined to all employees. Current process allows for greater reward at lower ratings, which can be very disheartening to workers.

I worked at Citi (more than an year)

    Pros

Above average salary, decent benefits and perks.

    Cons

Too much bs, too much politics, too much bureaucracy and red tape, every decision is by committee, little room for individual initiative and innovation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on tangible performance not intangibles like people's opinion. Allow for employees to change teams if there is a personality miss match with a boss.
