    Pros

Large organization that provides many opportunity to grow and learn different business on a global scale. Very progressive and forward looking in terms of using new technology.

    Cons

Many layers of management and the strategy is always in flux. Too much interference from business management with technology strategy and funding of projects.

I worked at Citi for more than 5 years

    Pros

For a bank, great work-life balance. Focus on developing employees. Very large firm with lots of divisions and geographies to explore.

    Cons

There is a lot of red tape. Highly political environment, to the extent that it detracts from getting the job done.

I have been working at Citi full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Been with Citi for over a decade. In that time I've seen my skill set expanded, my responsibilities grow and have met colleagues that have since become friends.

    Cons

9 months after being hired, pension was done away with. 3 years in, took a 5% pay cut. 5 years started seeing mass lay offs in the Northeast. Eventually talent and institutional wisdom was lost.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not espouse yourselves as a corporation that values meritocracy when in the end, it all comes down to tax-breaks and off loading your best workers for faceless off-shored "resources".

Division or people you work with defining your experience at Citi

I have been working at Citi full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Citi has a global presence and may be able to provide better global transfer opportunities and experiences.
Depending on whom you work with, right experiences may be obtainable. Work-life balance may be possible for certain divisions only when working with right people/management who care.

    Cons

For certain divisions, work-life balance is hard to come by; there are almost non-existing bonuses for AVP and positions below; and it is hard to get time off especially when working for more than one manager. Promotion is not based on performance evaluation alone. It is only possible if there is an opening for the next-level up and candidates have to be aware of the opening and apply online in time, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Training and work-life balance

I have been working at Citi full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Work life balance is good. There are some smart, ethical people.

    Cons

I am shocked by the unethical behavior going on at all levels. I mean, wow. It is unreal.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in infrastructure. When you talk about ethics, mean it. No one believes you.
