I have been working at Citi full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I love the fact that Citi has processes in place for most duties and functions.

    Cons

Not everyone seems to understand them, know about them, or care to follow them. There are also times we are hindered by the processes, and can't do what we see is the best for Citi because it is not out role.

    Advice to Management

Stop the Political Infighting, and duplicating functions with different groups. Trying talking to each other, and find common ground. Or let the people that do the work do the collaboration instead.

I worked at Citi full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Exposure to all divisions of Citi group. Global company. Great to have on your resume. Good benefits. Very little resource constraints. Quick issue resolution.

    Cons

Low rate bonuses. Greenwich St location is in the middle of no where. Unrealistic deadlines applied by managers. Little interaction with senior management.

    I worked at Citi full-time

    Pros

The pay was good and the benefits were also very good. Better then some other companies.

    Cons

They seem to want to out source a lot of jobs and send a lot off shore.

    Advice to Management

Bring the jobs back to the US and in shop.

I worked at Citi (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Citi has brand recognition in FS.

    Cons

Can be a very siloed organization and difficult to make your mark and advance.

    Advice to Management

Too many chiefs...advancing from VP to SVP is very subjective and differs greatly from dept. to dept.

    Pros

The company pays well, and management at my facility was good at enabling employees. Overall, I thought my position was a good starting posting. I left, but my friends who stayed moved up so getting stuck doesn't seem to be a problem if you are ambitious.

    Cons

Training wasn't what it could have been so being consistently curious is necessary. Sometimes people in the upper levels would take things out on the back office, but there were no obvious issues there.

    Advice to Management

Back office in a bank draws a group of people who are really ambitious and want to move up. Empowering these people to advance with new projects would be a big productivity booster.

I have been working at Citi full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Location is close to house

    Cons

Company is constantly contracting. People are spending some portion of their time wondering when they will get the ax. Huge disparity in bonus structure from one area to another and even if you move, it isn't adjusted. You have to leave and come back to get back to the right spot.

    Advice to Management

Look at people who are getting laid off holistically across the whole company and give good people the opportunity to land jobs in other orgs.
