I did not get a lot of projects that were stimulating

I have been working at Citi full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Opportunities to network with other divisions because most of management is willing to meet for a chat. Many global locations allow the possibility to move geographically, but requires networking on your own. No formal process

    Cons

Many layers of management which they are trying to improve. These layers also cause miscommunication and specialized knowledge where most employees only know about there own role. Very few individuals have a true sense of what goes on holistically at the firm.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Simplify the organization by cutting unnecessary layers, improve processes in order to get tasks done faster, allow for greater internal mobility

I worked at Citi full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The time off is the best you will find. They have good health benefits and many departments that you could go to.

    Cons

The management or lack of management is the reason I left this company. They don't know proper procedures or care to know. You will be challenged to deal with the lack of a clean work area. For over the 5 years I worked here you would have to deal with bed bug scare once a week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a job that you put effort into.

I worked at Citi for more than 5 years

    Pros

For a bank, great work-life balance. Focus on developing employees. Very large firm with lots of divisions and geographies to explore.

    Cons

There is a lot of red tape. Highly political environment, to the extent that it detracts from getting the job done.

  9.

    I worked at Citi

    Pros

Because of its size, there are opportunities to move from one sector to another to gain knowledge of, and experience in, different businesses.

    Cons

A lot of bureaucracy, declining compensation, and positions moving to India at a rapid pace.
Company talks of meritocracy, but it doesn't exist. Truly a place where "it's who you know, not what you know" that gets you ahead.
Many fiefdoms where business heads rule with impunity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to value your employees more.
Recognize their skills, experiences and contributions.
Management needs to deliver on its commitments to its shareholders and its employees.

I have been working at Citi full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good starting pay, potential for other careers, chance to make global networking and exposure

    Cons

Mandatory 1 year wait before posting for other jobs, no chances to work remote or for flexible work arrangements.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get with the times, most employees who are non-essential work from home.

I worked at Citi full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Some teams and people were awesome, very "down to earth" and not as cut-throat as those at other investment banks.

    Cons

    Mediocre standards
Didn't feel like the best place to grow your ambition
A lot of very unprofessional people

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Raise standards and see where that brings the firm in terms of league table rankings
