I worked at Citi full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Vacation, benefits, work life balance, remote work, great for moms.
If you're offered a position with Citi make sure you negotiate and ask for more money or they will give you the base, most jobs have a huge range 20-30k to work with and they will offer you the least. Negotiate, Negotiate!!!!

    Cons

Compensation is below average, only way to make more money is to leave Citi and come back. It's a running joke... everyone leaves and comes back...but they come back making 20k more.
Lucky to get a 3% yearly increase. You're treated as person in a seat not as a loyal employee. Turnover is high only because of the pay. I was offered 25k more doing the same job elsewhere.
Don't expect a bonus, bonus' are given based on mgr discretion, they are given an amount and based on how they want to give it out... hope you're buddy buddy with them or you won't see anything, many years was told they didn't have enough in the budget to give everyone raises, some people in the group were given 10% others nothing.
Management is very poor, you get promoted only if you apply for a higher level. Citi never promotes by rewarding for performance. Example- to go from a JR to Sr level someone must leave the department and the position must be applied for. Never granted based on great work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to work on finding a balance for their team. Favoritism is very common and they only way to get anywhere or anything is being friends with managment.
Management won't fight for their employees... common excuse "It's out of my hands...It's an HR decision"
I hated seeing great talent leaving Citi because of pay or unfair evaluations. Just because in an evaluation it states where there is room for improvement, does not mean you should make something up just because you're suppose to put something. You play with peoples careers.

I worked at Citi full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

One of the best training programs, international opportunities in a very large corporate, Have to maintain a work life balance in a claws and fang environment. Huge resources that can be tapped into and great response from fellow Citi employees, culture is appreciated amongst peers.

    Cons

Work life balance can be a challenge in some areas. Personal growth is too. Independent thinking not necessarily appreciated. Must be a "company " man to advance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

U folks Need serious help with diversity issues in the US, even though you boast the largest number of countries you operate in. Anything that does not fit your pigeon holed vision for the role is not appreciated such as vision creativity and implementation in other countries. Almost impossible to upload your vision to Senior Management. It will almost never get their attention unless you are politically connected to Corporate NY.

    I worked at Citi

    Pros

The company has good benefits. Remote work location contributes to a reasonable work life balance.

    Cons

The culture is very cut throat at the MD level. The executive management team really knows how to push issues down hill and protect its turf. There is a lack of communication and desire to cultivate careers. Everyone is "encouraged" to seek their own training. Promotions are few and far between, most often reserved for the chosen. Annual employee feedback generally leads to no where. The results are consistently poor year over year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve the culture. Value skip level feedback. Take action by eliminating MD level personnel that don't deliver.
