I have been working at CitiMortgage full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great pay for many positions, time off and flexibility is fantastic. Some really great people to work with, hopefully in your peer group or working across business lines.

    Cons

Leaders all around are pretty bad. The IT department will suck the life out of you. Too many schemers, manipulators, liars, and narcissists to go around. The businesses and technology are stuck 10-15 years in the past.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Completely revamp management, leadership, and start fresh from the ranks of the employees who are there to do good work. Evolve into a fully modern company, please.

    Pros

Steady work, good benefits, some opportunity for advancement

    Cons

Overbearing, bullying managers, favoritism. Most people who advance know someone. Managers will often sabotage an employee's opportunity to move up or around to other departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop overlooking those managers who bully their employees.

I worked at CitiMortgage full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Working at Citi was a great experience I had the opportunity to work remote as a Credit Underwriter. Unfortunately I was laid off. Management was very professional and fair. Excellent benefits, great communication even with being remote. Very supportive co-workers and Team Leads.

    Cons

Being laid off and the constant change. At times it was overwhelming and not everyone was on the same page. Could be very stressful.

I worked at CitiMortgage full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

They have good benefits and opportunities to grow and advance with the company. Its a great company to work for. They look to add value to work life balance, depending on the needs of the business of course.

    Cons

Some of the challenges are as with any big corporate business is the office politics. Depending on the department advancement can be challenging, and they don't give feedback and to why you didn't get even an interview. The hiring process with Human resources, when you apply for a position you may or may not get a response. Some upper management will not coach and develop you and are not fair when it comes to giving out ratings. Some OM will give higher ratings to undeserving Unit Managers, because they are afraid to manage them, cause they are friends. Overall, I didn't have a bad experience working at Citi, due to downsizing certain sites and positions, I am no longer employed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look to decrease the unnecessary conference calls on a daily basis, Listen to your Managers, when it comes to business decisions. Give credit where credit is due, closing productive departments in productive sites is not strategically good for the business. Keeping departments open where managers and agents are not as productive is not good business sense.

    Pros

Many departments to move around in if your wanting to advance throughout the company.

    Cons

Worry of layoffs every time rates drop.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Micro managers are not productive - makes unhappy employees.

  11.

Unprepared management, laborious unnecessary time-wasting procedures and repetitive unhelpful training.

Former Employee - Credit Underwriter IV in Jacksonville, FL

I worked at CitiMortgage full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Benefits and 401k company match

    Cons

Immediate management, supervisors over reacting to agency rules, focusing on unnecessary laborious processes and missing the value of combining common sense with guidelines.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote, retain and adequately compensate mortgage department employees who understand the history of mortgage processes and "get it" as opposed to promoting and tolerating employees who appear to be retained and promoted because they have learned to "play the game".
