Pros
good beneifits and also has many sites around the country if you ever want to move or apply for another job
Cons
not flexible sometimes with time, always have high goals and sometimes they are hard to get no matter how hard you try
Advice to Senior Management
inform everyone when changes are made and ask input from employees in making decisions that effect daily operations in the department
Pros
Flex time is great if you want to leave early.
Cons
Employees are robots and are expected to perform like robots. You have to log off just to go the bathroom.
Advice to Senior Management
Get rid of management and hire MBA's who know how to lead.
Pros
room for growth, learn a lot during TAP program, great way to build leadership skills and get out of your comfort zone
Cons
program is not organized if you get stuck with a manager who doesn't want a TAP. there should be more compatibility between the manager who will train you and yourself.
Advice to Senior Management
teach managers about the importance of developing a TAP. get more fair minded managers who treat all TAPs the same.
Pros
Citi offers very generous benefits packages, with opportunities to earn additional incentive based on performance. It is generally a positive atmosphere and very laid back.
Cons
Environment is too casual for an office. Managers are not given necessary levels of control to keep staff accountable, which staff is aware of. Poor overall communication
Advice to Senior Management
Increase expectations of staff at every level and hold individuals accountable for both results and decisions. Do away with Partners in Accountability
Pros
alot of paid time off, enjoy working with peers. good hours!!
Cons
not very positive enviroment, no one knows whats going on, ever!!! you try your hardest but its never good enough for them. you fail your calls for the dumbest reasons!!!!!! no incentives ever, they make it to where you can never get incentives. you get to the point with this job, you want to give up.
Advice to Senior Management
be more positive. if i ever got feedback from a manager with something positive and not negative, i would be shocked. they always have to find something to bring you down, something we could have said or done differently in our calls. even though we did really good. one question i hate during one on ones when listening to calls....so "what could you have said differently or done" are you kidding me???? no matter what we say you will always find something wrong!
Pros
Excellent company culture. I truely felt that managment saw me as a person and not just a minion. They offer opportunities to those without college degrees that most other companies would not. They give you alot more freedom to move to different departments to find what fits you best. If you plan to be in customer service centered work for most of your life this offers you invaluable experience as well as resume material. Rewards are given for both individual and team performances, not for being boss' favorite.
Cons
To be completely honest, dealing with the customers was the worst. People tend to be more open to being nasty when you're just a faceless voice on the other line. It's very fast paced problem solving and can be quite mentally exhausting. Sales were a big part of my position and certain numbers had to be met. Often times I felt the goals we had to reach were very unreasonable. The more the economy slowed down the more they would raise our goals. If you don't have thick skin and your morale is easily defeated, you won't get far.
Advice to Senior Management
I understand that sales are important to any for-profit company, but so is being realistic.
Pros
You will learn alot about managing numbers, and making presentations and managing projects.
Cons
This is not a people building place to work. Individuals are promoted for managing multiple projects- and not spending time with the people that are expected to make the results.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat every person as a leader and with the same respect, no matter what role they play. Appreciate all.
Pros
Excellent benefit package. TONS of vacation time. Management gets about 5 weeks. Work life balance is ok at first but gets much tougher as you move up. Mid and upper management log 60-70 hours all the time. Also, with all the technology their is no way to work remotely unless you like a network that lags so much it makes it impossible to work.
Cons
Get promoted internally and there is an excellent chance some of your direct reports will make more than you. Get hired into the same job from the outside and you'll make 30-40% more. HORRIBLE salaries for internal promotions.
Advice to Senior Management
Salaries need to be competitive with the market.
Pros
Citigroup has come a long way in the last few years. Work Life Balance is amazing.
Cons
Compensation. Perfect ratings year over year over year along with an MBA are not enough to get a decent merit increase. I'd be better off leaving and then coming back in 1-2 years. My salary would come close to doubling by being an external applicant.
Advice to Senior Management
Senior Management needs to focus more closely on creating an acceptable training curriculum for new team members.
Pros
There are many different career paths, and managment for the most part is good about allowing employess to move around to gain experience. There are opportunities to move geographically as well. There are some divisions that are definitely more pleasant to work in than others (the more highly regarded areas like Collections, Risk, Customer Service). If you are mobile, most people should be able to find a job that they enjoy doing for awhile, while adding tremendously to your resume.
Cons
Company still operates in silos (every division has its own finance group, technology group, hr, etc). Any attempt to consolidate functiions and create synergies is met with resistance. There is no accountability and senior execs can be unreasonably demanding, expecting instant results on projects that might take weeks or months. This appears to be the result of Sr VPs moving laterally to gain experience, and then instantly trying to 'make their mark' before understanding the business.
High performers generally bear the burden of handling the difficult or unwanted side projects/issues that crop up during the course of regular business (projects that don't get recognition, but need to be done for the business to operate efficiently).
Advice to Senior Management
Don't publicly degrade employees to show that you 'mean business'. There are more constructive ways of getting things done. The company preaches an 'environment of accountability', but it seems to be selectively enforced.
