Pros
Access to the world's wealthiest people and educational opportunities from a leading global private bank
Cons
Tough to find opportunities to grow if you aren't on the sales team
Pros
Wonderful clientele, educated colleagues and a strong and growing business.
Cons
Constant change in management and direction, too much hiring on the front end (bankers who do not fit in with the Citi culture), too many communications about the same topic, need to beef up support staff - people are becoming stressed, overworked and their company morale is diminishing.
Advice to Senior Management
Overweight in front end sales staff and need to start hiring product specialists to support them or the model is going to break (lack of client & product support). A growing business with a strong sales force needs the back end to support it.
Pros
Excellent platform, relative to other large private banks. There is an ability to change roles if you are early in your career.
Cons
Horrible management, constantly changing, lack of focus and poor execution on plans. Major overhaul of the business by tearing down profitable businesses to build up the investments platform. Success remains to be seen.
Advice to Senior Management
Seek more employee input prior to rolling out new strategies rather than what appears to be advice from sycophants who are then promoted.
Pros
Opportunity to learn the business
Cons
Leadership/opp for advancement, professional development
Advice to Senior Management
Offer more internships. Make diversity a reality.
Pros
The people are really sociable and easy to get along with. Good calm atmosphere for most of the time.
Cons
I don't really know yet. The location is I guess an outlier.
Advice to Senior Management
None at this time.
Pros
Profitable business within Citigroup. You will succeed if you follow management leads and complete your tasks quickly.
Cons
Citigroup is not as respected as it used to be. Regular layoffs for over two years and counting. Salaries are lower than competitors. Firm is regularly understaffed so you must work long hours to complete your work.
Advice to Senior Management
Senior management needs to develop a clear strategy so mid-level managers and businesses can execute.
Pros
Friendly people so you can spend a lot of years here
Cons
Def. no corporate bank or IB - C
Advice to Senior Management
Management has gotten better in the last few yrs
Pros
The hours are great, and vacation time and ability to take time off is fair.
Cons
See headline. Management has zero regard for tenure. New employees are paid competitively and treated well, allegedly valuable existing employees have conceded to the fact that there will be no bonuses for the foreseeable future, promotions mean nothing, and they need to be looking for new jobs.
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate. It's really frustrating to read things in Fundfire and the Journal before getting an internal email or call about it. Also ask for employee input, you might be surprised at the insight.
Pros
You can get paid while you are looking for another job
Cons
80% outsourced to India consultants in IT
No one in management knows anything about IT
Every employee is out to back stab each other
Good workers are layed off
Advice to Senior Management
Stop shipping every US job except executives to India
Pay attention to the people who work at the company don't just lie to them
Pros
Small group of people
Smart and collaborative
Cons
Bad compensation
Lack of movement within group
Advice to Senior Management
Less layering and more collaboration from every side.
