Pros
Org Culture is really great!
Cons
Performance appreciation process needs to be reviseted
Advice to Senior Management
Little people makes the base of the company
Pros
-Awesome work culture. Great people. Great management and leader in virtualization space.
Cons
No real cons other than too many minor (insignificant) products that causes confusion to the overall future strategy.
Pros
good atmosphere; people are kind. great easy-going, beach location. onsite gym. dogs allowed onsite. telecommuting allowed for some departments. flexible schedules; 4 10hr days available. free snacks, fruit, drinks available at all times. nice breakrooms with satellite programming and things like ping pong, xbox, etc.
micromanagement is not common. plenty of freedom. everyone is highly encouraged to guard the environment and help the local community (you are paid to volunteer for local charities in some cases). pay is competitive; perhaps highly competitive considering how easy-going most jobs usually are here--you are not treated like a slave by any means. advancement does not happen at startup company speeds, but opportunities are definitely there. promotions give modest raises, around 10%. annual merit increases are common.
Cons
living nearby is pricey
advancement is a bit slow, but in no way a dealbreaker.
Advice to Senior Management
youre doing a good job. if it aint broke, dont fix it.
Pros
Flexible working. We are encouraged to utilize CITRIX technologies to work from anywhere.
Benefits (apart from compensation) are good.
Interesting and growing technology area with CITRIX offering market leading, innovative products.
As a sales person, the CITRIX name opens doors.
Strong, well liked and respected CEO.
Cons
Terrible compensation which has fallen behind equivalent companies
Very siloed thinking around career progression. Little co-ordinated opportunity for international movement for example.
Advice to Senior Management
You need to add 20% to the pay packages.
Pros
Growing company with great technologies and growth prospects
Cons
They are too worried about the bottom line.
Pros
Free to make your own decisions
Cons
we need more internal communication
Advice to Senior Management
Constant feedack
Pros
Very consensus driven and ethical company working in some hot areas of high tech. Flexible work styles that we called "work shifting" to balance work and personal life. Partners loved working with Citrix given the positive reputation for our easy to use products.
Cons
Decisions can be slow given the need for buy-in and consensus up the food chain. Lots of disparate applications and systems so pioneering new infrastructure for partners can take awhile.
Advice to Senior Management
Push down decision-making to lower levels and hold the parties accountable.
Pros
Best reasons to work at Citrix include people and the culture. Easy to find likable people and the culture encourages this. People that do not know how to get along and those that are not productive don't usually gain tenure. Work/ life balance is good and tools to do work in flexible manner is good. Flexibility is the main reason to stay.
Cons
Pay is generally below similar positions. Difficulty in getting training, development and career opportunities. Without the right direct manager you can have great difficulty in advancement.
Pros
balance between work and personal time. work from home/remote. laid back. still growing fast. strong balance sheet - so quite stable.
Cons
not innovative. engineering innovation got stalled, mostly growing via marketing/sales and by taking over other companies. If you are expecting cutting edge engineering, maybe not.
Advice to Senior Management
same as above. senior engineering managers don't last long - high turnover rate. continuous reorganization of engineering dept is not taking anybody anywhere.
Pros
- Go to Meeting access
- Flexible work hours
- Silicon Valley location is okay
Cons
- Terrible company work etiquette. Managers call way too many meetings and then don't show up or are always late. No agendas or goal oriented time lines. When not in fire drill mode managers cannot be located. Reactionary and shoddy work ethic. Expectations are very low for deliverables.
- Product updates are pushed live with glaring usability issues. Being first is more important than product reliability and usability.
- CEO is invisible to employees. Idolizes Apple. Gives direct orders to "make it more like Apple".
- High level of cronyism in mid and upper level management. Tyrants are allowed to make unqualified changes to product in the development stage over-riding months of preparation work.
- Ugly cubicle farm office environment with few perks. Lack luster cafeteria in building that no one goes to.
Advice to Senior Management
Clear out the deadwood. Too many employees are riding the gravy train without contributing anything. Need to update company perks and benefits in order to attract work class employees. Citrix is an innovation follower not a leader.
