I have been working at Citrus College full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great salaries for some employees, like managers. Fair salaries for professors. Great opportunity for advancement. Most employees are professional and committed to helping students reach their goals.

    Cons

Some programs aren't supported like others are. For instance, distance education gets lip service but money hasn't been flowing that direction. Of course, that could change with leadership changes, but classes in that area have been cut, especially in summer and winter inter sessions. This winds up hurting students in the end. Also, Tech services LIVES IN THE DARK AGES! Their policies are antiquated and it is incredibly frustrating. There is a total lack of support for technology on this campus, and that's a shame, because it really is a great school that does great things for people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There should be more forward thinking. I think it's weird that we are the only college I can think of that doesn't have wifi throughout campus. How is it that McDonalds has had free wifi for the last decade and Citrus doesn't?

I have been working at Citrus College part-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Campus is well-maintained and attractive. Great library that is well-staffed. Friendly and competent security. Strong communication between administration and instructors. Good relationships between deans, full-timers and adjuncts. Strong focus on student success with a dynamic veteran's program. DSP&S is accommodating but still puts lots of emphasis on student responsibility. Use of technology on campus and for students is thoughtful, though not always the most cutting-edge.

    Cons

Too much reliance on adjuncts. Hiring process for full-time, tenure-track positions can be sloppy. No COLA in a long, long time (8 years?) Human resources is probably the weakest department that struggles to take responsibility for errors. Childcare center is closed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reopen the childcare center and look into COLA.

I have been working at Citrus College

    Pros

Friendly and collaborative staff. Sometimes difficult to get attention regarding new courses and curriculum revisions - but courses offer a decent variety for students and teachers.

    Cons

Favoritism among faculty in selection of adjunct assignments, with no preference given for seniority or high quality of student feedback.
