I have been working at City National full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Co-workers are friendly and welcoming. I have some of the best teammates to work with. Friendly/family environment; not hostile.

    Cons

Stingy!! Too many underpaid employees for a bank that is well profitable, established, and likely to grow even larger. No career growth opportunity. Senior management tries to keep you where you at with no career advancement. Low-paying "entry-level" positions while there is a lot of workload and they should really be more generous. No appreciation or compensation for the hard work of taking more responsibility. Other banks are paying way more for way less workload.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Boost employee's morale by compensating them. Do not be so stingy with compensation. This bank serves only high net worth clients. Be a little more generous with giving compensations and raises to your employees.

    Pros

Money is good, opportunities for growth, well known brand in the banking industry.

    Cons

Incompetence is enabled by the top, layers and layers of management. Bureaucracy everywhere.

I have been working at City National full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Everyone gets along pretty well. The "hammer" won't come down hard on you if you miss goals or make an error. Co-workers are friendly, definitely a no jerks allowed type of culture.

    Cons

Pay. You really must go in with a mind-set that you will only see inflation bumps of 2-4% and occasional merit bumps of 6-8%. Must show proof of another offer to increase pay (and be wiling to take it).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reduce costs by increasing technology to increase pay. Simple.

    Pros

City National Bank has a warm-friendly environment. I like my co-workers and we get a long well. We have good team work.

    Cons

There is no room to grow. Many have been here for more than 10 years which means they get loyalty points.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to give more compensation for employee's hard work. Show more appreciation with monetary compensation.
