I worked at City Union Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

very good environment as people from different states are working, nice place to work.

    Cons

people coming from different states and working here, but 99 % are from south. For north Indian its very tough to work and survive .

    Advice to Management

should hire people from every place not only south. And should give chance to deserving candidate not who has some RBI reference.

    Pros

    1) Job security- they don send u out from company...If u want u can stay for 200years if u r alive. If u plan to leave the job, pls read the cons section on how the suck u. 2)Spread across TN, people who seek to work near their house can prefer this after reading the below sections

    Cons

    1) No work culture & arrogance of senior management people 2) Highly old fashioned & even people in schools are treated better than the employees 3)Never ending useless work- u do the same boring stuff everyday & height of boredom 4) They recruit MBA's promising to promote them as Scale 1 officers in 1year by quoting the salary to be 5.87lakhs....initially u join as junior officers with payscale of 4.1L(according to offer letter) But u hardly earn 22K per month..don ask me how but that's the way they show off when they talk. 5) They don't accept creative ideas.. leave accepting they wont even hear ur words.. Old people just stick to their ways which they have doing in the same bank for 25years 6) Biggest forgery happens during ur training, they arrange at their home town Kumbakonam, ON THE VERY FIRST DAY THEY COLLECT ALL YOUR CERTIFICATE ORIGINALS WITHOUT ENCLOSING THAT THERE IS A BOND, WHICH THEY WILL SAY YOU IN AN OFFER LETTER THEY WILL PROVIDE AFTER U COMPLETE UR TRAINING & GET UR PLACE OF JOINING. BOND CLAUSE SAYS, U NEED TO WORK THERE FOR 3YEARS, IF U PLAN TO LEAVE U SHOULD PAY 1LAKH & GIVE 3MONTHS NOTICE PERIOD. ALSO THEY WILL ADD UP THAT, U NEED PAY THE FINANCIAL LOSS COMPANY UNDERGOES ( It means u need to pay 1lakh + training cost(32K)+bonus( if u receive any,don worry u wont get it at all)+ some extra 15k(for the lodging u get during training)=Total 1.6L min 7) Keeping employee certificate is a criminal offense & employee bond is not valid in India. They are real cheaters 8) Never ever think of leaves & there will be no time for you to prepare for exams or interviews. If you work in their Computer system dept, u need to work including sunday. U wont believe, u need to work in night shifts for atleast 1week per month. 9) U get hike of 700rs every year...their salary structure is unfit & they don't pay u( 30k for mba for 3 years is wat u will get)...job designation is like---clerk-engineer, mba-junior officer 10) If u want to take up everything thinking u will have good career growth later on, no chance u wont have any learning & u will be 4ucked if u try to get in another company. 11) U will end up spoiling ur dreams & communication skills u have since no one inside communicate & recommend to talk in English 12) Management & old people sck to the core!!! No appreciations or encouragements either. Its better to get into a call center job than this bank

    Advice to Management

Don't recruit MBAs from good colleges if don't have the work to match their skills. Treat employees in a fair way & don't be arrogant.... Don't cheat them by getting their certificates & sucking money...Too much politics & head weight of senior people...encourage good working culture which u don't have till date...Ur share have moved from 64rs to 100rs in past 1 year, give some money to employees...

I worked at City Union Bank full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Tamil will do, no need to know anything else... work will go on..... Break the rules....or else they will break you...

    Cons

    * Work for minimum of 10 hrs and max its may go up to 14 hrs.. because after that you won't be in a state to work or else work is always abundant. *Number of MBA/PGDM candidates working as clerks nearly constitutes 60% of CUB employees, all were lured by the statement "you will promoted to officer very soon". * you can notice after entering the branch that the mentality of getting promoted to officer is the only driving force to work, which won't happen as only 425 branches exists till date, if you just think practically its like "people buying lottery tickets in a hope of winning but its not practical as the lottery owner will get bankrupted if he declares price for each ticket". *1:3 employee ratio CUB:other bank in branches for same quantum of business. *Forget your personal life..or carrier outside CUB as you don't have occasion to prepare or avail leaves. * You will not be empowered, your suggestion is a waste. At last the unethical thing that CUB indulge in: * They will ask you to submit all your original certificates and once you oblige you are dead... Your are locked in a cage called CUB. If you want to get out you have to pay training and recruiting expense (so called) or else they won't give your certificate back. HRMD is one of the worst I have ever seen, they won't respond for your mails even if you escalate it to the MD. They don't know any labor law, they don't even know that keeping of certificates and not returning when asked is a crime and Managing director and other directors can be punished according to LAW. They won't justify their claims by giving cost breakup of training expenses. They are the real Robbers!

    Advice to Management

As I think you are planning, Sell CUB to some other bank, you are immature to Handle the Bank, Centralized management is good for a small petty shop not for a bank. Getting business is important but always eat what you can digest and always think about your infrastructure and employee strength before getting business to a branch. Balloon will burst if you overfill it, and all your employees will leave.
