I have been working at City of Alhambra part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

They are very flexible with your hours and work around your school schedule, it's a perfect job while you're in school. There's a variety of programs you get to work at, it's not a specific job task. Supervisors are very nice and cool.

    Cons

Sometimes you have to scout for your own hours.

I have been working at City of Alhambra

    Pros

college students will enjoy the flexible hours, learn to manage large activities that involve the public and community. Working in recreation helps to keep you active.

    Cons

the recession has caused the management to bar any raises but at the same time they hired 20 new staff. They are now trying to limit the hours of employees to 20 and expect us to keep the job a priority when its obvious they don't really care about the employees and just care for the profits the programs that we run can generate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would suggest that the management take more time to appraise each employee for their worth and compensate them appropriately, paying all the workers the same when some do more than others is not acceptable.

  3.

A good mix of Clerical Duties and hands on work.

I worked at City of Alhambra part-time

    Pros

As a recreational Leader you can be assigned to work at many different place such as Alhambra Park, Almansor Park, and The Joslyn Center. You can do anything from Clerical Work in the park offices to Distributing free lunch during the summer, Setting up sound systems at the parks, working during the summer jubilee when they had them and working on July 4th at Almansor park. The supervisor are very nice.

    Cons

Too many people get hired so there are not that many hours available for everyone.
