Pros – Great job with tons of equipment to work with to do a professional job.
Cons – Too much waste of money in the City (like most government jobs).
Pros – The best reasons to work for the City of Antioch are the clients you get to interact with. I work in the Recreation Department, so for me it is the children I get to see on a daily basis that make the job worth while.
Cons – -Low pay.
-Spending money out of your own pocket to run programs and such.
-Expectation to stay at work after you're off the clock (so illegal!)
- Budget woes making job stability almost non-existent.
-Ask to be late to work 2 weeks in advance (as I did), get it approved, and then get scolded for it after the fact (uhm, ok?)
-You will be written up for supervisors mistakes!
-Inconsistency in workplace policies.
Advice to Senior Management – Train your on-site supervisors properly, put people in place who have the potential to grow as leaders, not those who use their position as a power tripping tool. Make sure that your supervisors are performing work within the boundaries of the law (because right now, they are not!), and acknowledge your "subordinates" when you come to the work sites. There is nothing worse than having upper management walk right past you like you don't exist! Provide better uniforms so that clients will respect you more - right now, some of the Rec staff look like clowns.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
Pros – Great benefits. Most of the employees are terrific, hard working people.
Cons – It's a government agency that is under-staffed and under-funded, so be prepared to work hard and always, always do more with less.
Advice to Senior Management – Best of luck in the future.
