    Pros

Great location if you work in the CAB (City Administration Building)

    Cons

Very political environment, hard to make progress on anything because of the politically minded/driven managers, managers like to fraternize with their favorites, you are expected to be a yes man, O and it will suck out your soul chew it up and spit it out.

    Pros

Good work/life balance in my department. Our office is not located in the CAB.

    Cons

My department currently suffers from a lack of independence. Our compensation is below market. City Leadership lost a lot of institutional experience when the Mayor took over.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees with experience. Play by the same rules you expect us to live by. Be more transparent.

  7. The pay may be good, but don't forget that it's controlled by one entity, the Mayor.

    Family like closeness with co-workers.

Treated like a number, a culture of "sweeping things under the carpet", unpredictable pay raises, costly health care benefits, etc

    Advice to Management

    Quit

    Pros

The Springs was a great employer. They have a solid commitment to professional development, empowerment and innovation.

    Cons

Political climate was very anti-government. No matter how good your work was, some citizen group or another found fault with it.

    Pros

Most of the workers will go out of their way to make you feel at home and needed. If you have problems or questions, there is always at least one person who is willing to help.

    Cons

The executive management is self serving and does not care about the employees for the most part. They tend to hire from outside instead of training and promoting from within. In the process of doing this, they creates walls that promote a difficult environment for work to be productive and meaningful. This is not in every department.

    Advice to Management

You are there for the citizens, not for yourself. Ask questions and talk with the employees.
