I have been working at City of Houston full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits are good but not what they used to be. Most Supervisors are very flexible as far schedules and using sick and vacation time.

    Cons

Difficult to get promotions. Not much incentive to improve work performance.

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent. Make it easier for employees to get promoted. Don't demand more than youre willing to give.

I have been working at City of Houston full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

You have relatively secure employment except during drastic downturns in the economy. Advancement is possible to a certain extent if you apply yourself.

Advancement is limited once you reach a certain level. In some divisions apathy of upper management is frustrating. Typical bureaucracy exists.
