Great summer job for teens and college students

    Lifeguard (Former Employee) Mesquite, TX

ProsIt was a great work environment with tons of memories. I loved working outdoors and getting to do a hands on job. There were plenty of hours available to work along with good pay.

ConsThe cleaning is harsh after a long day but is well worth the compensation. One of the managers loves to play pranks which gets very annoying after about a week. It can get rough when dealing with angry customers. It can also be a very stressful work place when your under a lot of pressure.

Advice to Senior ManagementGreat job on relating with your employees but also acting like a boss when it is needed

ProsGreat for college students or for a summer job, not so much as a regular ole part time job. There aren't very many opportunities for grown in PARD without a degree. There are some great supervisors, and great co workers.

ConsNot very many hours, no growth opportunities, lack of accountability between city hall and centers.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore opportunities for growth, rewards for long time employees.

It's a great place to work

Professional Non-manager (Former Employee) Mesquite, TX

ProsThe benefits are great and the environment is a fine one that works for a family life. Employee family nights are a great way to get together with others, and you can expect an 8-hour workday to be the norm. It's not uncommon for an employee to spend 30 years or more working here!

ConsThe pay is low compared to other cities of the same size, and it's not uncommon for pay to be frozen for years at a time. Also, people rarely promote to higher-paying jobs.

Very supportive, encouraging and professional growth fostering place to work!!!

    Planner (Current Employee) Mesquite, TX

ProsExposure to a vast range of activities and work experiences. It is great for young professionals looking to get a lot of different types of experience. Senior level staff members are very supportive of junior staff members' work and professional growth. Senior staff members very strongly encourage and praise good work. It is a very fast-paced environment with many projects and ideas being thrown around simultaneously and offers a feeling of self-worth and deep contribution to a meaningful purpose.

ConsPresently, there are not many options for advancing or for promotions. The politics can be hard to grasp for outsiders, but this is not uncommon for those working in municipal government.

Advice to Senior ManagementThank you very much for the opportunity to grow so much.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
