There has been a lot of turnover at the top of the organization which could be positive or negative, but creates some uncertainty.

    Advice to Management

Continue hiring good people and remember to listen to them.

    Pros

The people I work with are great. If it weren't for them I would not still be here.

    Cons

Favoratism, clicks, promises that never come true.

    Advice to Management

Don't promise what you have no intentions of granting to an employee. Look at your departments. Check them carefully for Managers that play favoritism to a few blessed people and the rest feel they are a dime a dozen. Us who show up for work every day and do above and beyond their job should be compensated for it not just told well I understand you've made many changes and have helped us greatly. I understand all your knowledge is worth a lot and that I would hate to see you leave but if you do, we will just replace you. Where does the loyalty ly in your company? I can tell you. With your employees not with your Managers. I see in many departments employees being passed over. Employees that are being told lies on a daily basis by their Managers. Managers should be nurturing to their employees. They should want us to succeed and they should help us succeed. They do this very selectively. And only to chosen few. Talk to your employees you might learn something and avoid law suits for discrimination.

    Pros

Benefits were out of this world and I actually LOVED my job.

    Cons

Management was not good at all. Horrible office politics and the court management was not employee friendly. They have no compassion for their employees or real life situations. Lots of favortism and if you are not in the group then you are not a favorite. The court management loves to write up for the smallest things that don't matter. Breaking people down constantly. High-high turnover. Policy of only have 2 people off at a time was hard with 35 employees at the court.

    Advice to Management

Clean up and show compassion for employees. A little respect goes a long way.

The best thing about working for the City of Plano is the way they treat their employees. They are always striving to make the job enviornment so much better.

    Cons

Sometimes you can get a few disgruntled patrons.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Excellant benefits, stable job, friendly staff and peers to work with. Staff worked as a team to do whatever it took to make sure the jobs got completed and meet deadlines.

    Cons

Continuious personality conflict with dept supervisor for over 3 years

    Advice to Management

When I had meetings scheduled with upper management for a one on one. It always seemed that the dept managerment always wanted more people involved instead of a one on one meeting.

    Pros

Great benefits, advancement opportunities (the city almost exclusively promotes from within,) the people in charge seem to know how to do the job. A lot of time off.

    Cons

A lot of liability concern. The city focuses more on limiting exposure than it does in helping it's customers. Salaries are pretty fixed and have been stagnant for a long time. The focus is on seniroity and not production. Those who do less for longer are rewarded before those who do the major share of the work, but haven't given as much time.
