Not a bad place to work

    City Worker (Current Employee)
    Portsmouth, NH

Prostime off and salary decent working environment given what position you hold. beautiful city to work in with a great downtown

Consusual cons working in a municipal environment given city budget issues and politics.

Advice to Senior Managementget a grip on contract negotiations with city employees. Management seem less than genuine in this area

Very professional and progressive local government

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Portsmouth, NH

ProsThe City provides good benefits and competitive compensation for a local government. It is very progressive with use of technology. Coworkers and upper management are friendly and look out for each other.

ConsChallenging citizen groups to work with due to very high standards expected of the City government. This is not unexpected considering the amount of taxes and fees paid. But difficult to come up with any real cons.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to make good hires.
