Pros
Good location, small organization, interesting people.
Cons
Only employees with Swiss or German careers will be developed. Promotion is based on who you know, not what you achieve.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop the internal focus and look after the local markets.
Pros
Salary and benefits are good. Clariant is also not very structured in procedures. So if you like to take charge and lead the way, there are not many to stop you.
Cons
Company is headquartered in Switzerland. The Swiss run the company like a bank. If you think America is focused on short term goals wait till you work for the Swiss. Clariant does not demonstrate much regard for their employees. Lots of petty rules which are supposed to streamline the process but really slow you down. Senior management at the board level is very poor and the company has been declining in financial strength for many years.
Advice to Senior Management
People are an asset. Treat them like such. Work the company collectively as a whole, make each division a success, and stop trying to compete one site against the other.
Pros
The best reasons to work at Clariant are they are really active in the community, especially in the Charlotte, NC area. They make a real effort to be apart of numerous fundraisers for marathons and schools. They also participate in a meals on wheels program which deliver meals to the elderly. The company has a great benefits package and its in a great location.
Cons
Pay needs to be more competitive. They need to value young talent and give everyone a fair chance. It is very much a good old boys club in which you are either a member or an outsider.
Need to show more compassion for employees that are knowingly under bad management.
Advice to Senior Management
Make more of an effort to retain young talent.
