    Under-qualified Management

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Aliso Viejo, CA

    ProsEveryone is friendly, at first.

ConsA lot of drama in every department, reminds me of middle school. This is primarily caused by poor management, who are not qualified for their jobs. Laboratory management with no degrees or laboratory background, basically learned on the job, yet requires degrees/certificates for employees. Employees are more qualified than management. HR does not follow through with problematic employees, they are afraid of law suits. Instead, they turn on you when reporting issues.

Advice to Senior ManagementFavoritism amongst your teams is never favorable. Your friends do not deserve promotions and preferential treatment, just because you are friends outside of the workplace. Be professional, remove yourself from the usual employee gossip. Stop hiring your friends and treat everyone equally.

    Pre-GE was Fantastic

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsBefore the acquisition, Clarient was the best. Best people, culture, and atmosphere.

ConsBureaucracy at its finest. GE made the transition tough with its non negotiable standards. Extremely disappointing.

    This company is a disaster

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Aliso Viejo, CA

ProsThere are no pros to working for Clarient. The labs are contaminated, the tests have false positive results. There is DNA everywhere because of improper handling of specimens. Managers haven't any skills in their jobs, they have no idea what their employees do. They get paid to be breathing paper weights.

ConsThere are no pros to working for Clarient. The labs are contaminated, the tests have false positive results. There is DNA everywhere because of improper handling of specimens. Managers haven't any skills in their jobs, they have no idea what their employees do. They get paid to be breathing paper weights. There is complete lack of training- a job is done 10 different ways by 10 different people due to the lack of training and communication.

Advice to Senior ManagementPerhaps your money would be better spent employing people that has knowledge of their job, instead of hiring family members. Keeping hard workers and letting go the dredge would behoove your company. Taking care of your employees both during employment after you lay people off instead of screwing them over would be noble. If Clarient and GE were the companies they boost they are, then they wouldn't have an issue keeping people on board instead of a company wide job hunt going on to get the hell out of there as soon as possible.

It was a good company to work for when it was smaller.

Applications Developer (Former Employee) Aliso Viejo, CA

ProsGreat pay and benefits. Very understanding to personal time and needs. Friendly people and upper management. Very smart eployees. Flexible and casual environment.

ConsShady financial practices. It's the type of place where if you come across the "dirt", you're out without a reason. They don't keep employees in the loop as to departmental changes.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your employees more and trust them. Promote team playmanship and try to eliminate the need for information hoarding. Be honest with your employees.

Clarient Inc. - High Complexity Diagnostic Lab

Technician (Former Employee) Aliso Viejo, CA

ProsBenefits are reasonable and in comparison to many other companies within the same industry (diagnostic labs) is competitive.

The executives provide a very informative quarterly meeting about the outlook of the company and its progress.

The company has a willingness to show appreciation for its employees, though it rarely through monetary means (i.e. providing food, drinks, a office party...).

    ConsPoor judgement by middle management.

For most brand new graduates just a stepping stone. A very unnecessary stepping stone.

Education of technology and techniques is limited.

Access to freeways from location is terrible.

Aggressive management at time of employment.

Advice to Senior ManagementHiring management that is better qualified on a technical level to better trouble shoot through quality issues. Provide better education of technology being used. Focus more on quality work before moving onto rate of work.
