I have been working at Clark Atlanta University full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Most of the people have the best interest of the students in mind.

    Cons

Most of the processes are broken.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Re-vamp processes and look at what successful schools are doing as it relates to IT, student recruitment, and grant writing. Set some policies and stick to them.

I worked at Clark Atlanta University full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The campus is nice. The technology in the classrooms is modern and current. The students are excited about campus life.

    Cons

The faculty is old, poorly trained, and lacking basic technical understanding. The University as a whole is lacking in funds to maintain the current infrastructure, much less purchase new technology. There is a general lack of vision, leadership and accountability. The students are spoiled, lazy and lack respect for the faculty.

I have been working at Clark Atlanta University full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    - The tuition allowance is by far the best benefit of working at Clark Atlanta University.
    - Compensation at CAU for an education institution is average.
    -

    Cons

    - No merit increases in the last several years.
    - Senior leadership tenured and not adapting to innovation.
    - No online course offering.
    - Senior leadership not able to deliver on the strategic vision and planning.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

CAU is an established research university with rich history and tradition. However, this alone is not a competitive advantage for students to make a decision. Lack of technology innovation, seasoned teachers not able to deliver technology into the classroom. Low enrollment numbers could be resolved by offering continuing education and online course offerings. The city of Atlanta is very competitive with over 14 other Colleges in the Metro Atlanta area with better tuition pricing for a quality degree.

I worked at Clark Atlanta University full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Aside from potentially inspiring students to become great citizens, job satisfaction sucked at CAU.

    Cons

The Administration does not care about employees, or the success and progression of CAU. The buildings are outdated, much like the software and equipment needed to perform basic/daily activities. Extraordinary performance goes unnoticed, without any prospect of getting a salary increase/bonus. There is not consideration for new role assignments within a department or other areas. Policies are outdated, and not fully exercised by majority of staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A new president, and new management is severely needed.

I worked at Clark Atlanta University full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    The people and the students

    Cons

Extremely political environment. Individuals not promoted based on contributions but promoted based on having their nose in the right person's face.

    Senior Management, Executive level management.

If you're getting a job here, get your money UP FRONT. Don't expect any promotions or raises unless you're a tried and true brown noser. You've been duly warned..................

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Retire. Move out the way for new, inspired management who will make a difference.
