I worked at Clark County Department of Aviation full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

If given the opportunity you can learn and if given the chance you can progress in your field. I learned a lot the first six years at the airport and had a manager that was willing to mentor to the staff and given opportunies to excel.

    Cons

Not being valued as a employee or team player when new management come on board or promoted. Employees are discriminated against other employees within departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Exit employee interview with every employee to evaluate if there was any area that they could of assisted within the employee or department. Stressing the need for newly promoted supervisors and managers to take management and other needed classes to help with transitioning on how to treat each employee equal.

I have been working at Clark County Department of Aviation full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Nearly fifty percent of all visitors to Las Vegas come through McCarran. Ranked the seventh-busiest airport in North America, McCarran served a record-breaking 47.7 million passengers in 2007. Our airport is now the second busiest origin and destination airport, which means that more domestic passengers are processed through the airport’s ticketing, security checkpoints and baggage claim than any airport except Los Angeles International Airport. As a world leader in airport management, McCarran continues to place the emphasis on providing the best customer service possible. The Clark County Department of Aviation offers employee benefits that are among the best in the industry, including paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, and employer paid retirement. Full-time employees and their families are eligible for low cost life, dental, vision and health insurance.

    Cons

McCarran is a 24 hour a day, seven day a week organization. If you are not prepared to work any shift on any day, this may not be the place for you.

Airside Operations work experience at McCarran Airport

I worked at Clark County Department of Aviation full-time

    Pros

Interaction with airport passengers and tenants.

    Cons

Airside management is autocratic in leadership style; Assistant Airside Director allows discrimination to take place; encourages conflict within the organization; no opportunities for growth; hires only military retirees; provides no formal education or training; work environment hostile and uncomfortable; discourages the use of FMLA.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encourage diversity and listen to your people. Working environments that are hostile and uncomfortable take an effect on a individual's health. It is time for a change in the chain of command.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
