  1.

    Good place to work. Laid back.

    I have been working at Clausen Miller

    Pros

    No one on your case about face time, checking in on you. The office dress was fairly casual. Some decent perks. Cool about taking vacation time.

    Cons

    Insurance defense. Not exactly the most scintilating of work. But whatever, there's definitely worse stuff out there. Like Lexis or Westlaw rep.

    I worked at Clausen Miller full-time

    Pros

    Transit checks are given to support staff members that show up to work on time.
    Free Breakfast is served to the staff on dress down Fridays.

    Cons

    No bonuses; (occasional annual 1-2% raise)
    No training system implemented for new hires;
    Underpaid staff + lazy work environment = poor work performance;
    Educated grown men and women acting very unprofessional seems to be the norm here; and is the example set by some partners.
    Prior office manager left and instead of looking for a person who has managerial experience they just took the cheap route and promoted from in house. A senior secretary who has no managerial background, is not trained and certainly not capable of "managing" an office - there is no confidentiality, no professionalism, lots of gossip;
    Equivalent to being back in high school not at an International Corporate Law Firm on Wall Street;

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Give employees better pay, raises, and/or bonuses;
    Implement a training program for incoming and existing staff by someone who is PROPERLY trained to do so;
    Management needs to be changed or closely monitored;
    Attorneys do not act professional to each other and support staff (foul language, horsing around, bickering, gossiping, child's play)

    Negative Outlook
  3.

    Cheap, no communication, no training and too many employees with low skill levels

    I worked at Clausen Miller

    Pros

    Good benefits, reimbursement for subway travel to work, company outing in the summer, decent christmas party

    Cons

    They offer no training for incoming employees, expect you to know everything and criticize you when you do not; no bonus for support staff; at best you can expect a 2% annual raise; half the employees that are employed do not know the basic fundamentals of legal documentation; none of the employees do work consistanty; no double checking; overall lazy atmosphere for the staff; staff complains constantly they are underpaid which is why they underperform; recent office manager left and they promoted the lazyest employee to the new position based solely on tenure and not work experience;

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    pay employees better; create training program for incoming and existing staff; create bonus system for performance and you will see more consistant work and happier employees
