Pros
Not a desk job, manager your own day
Cons
Micromanaging, rates are outrageous, hard for small business to buy them
Advice to Senior Management
Lower rates
Pros
Fun events, good supervisors, great opportunties
Cons
Some menial tasks, not a lot of room to grow
Pros
large company with decent resources. Strong brand recognition with than 850 properties across the nation. Leaders in the communications industry.
Cons
outside of high profile talent, salaries are low, assignments are spread too thin. No real appreciation for those who excel in their positions.
Advice to Senior Management
Spend time talking to employees about what it takes to do the job correctly. Pay employees what they are worth and lose the cut expenses at all costs strategy
Pros
Casual atmosphere and casual dress
Newsroom co-workers are friendly and supportive
Never have to take my work home with me
Cons
Employee morale is awful
NO raises or cost of living increases
Health insurance costs continue to rise
Inequality among employees, many are treated much better than others
Limited ability to grow or be promoted
Advice to Senior Management
Improving employee morale would in turn improve the overall environment and make employees much more eager to continue producing a quality product. There are glaring inequalities among employees and its difficult for those who are "lower on the totem" pole to see management bend over backwards for those in contracted on-air positions.
Pros
Larger company with above average medical, dental, vision benefits (as of 2010). Camaraderie when under the gun, Most software is proprietary to Clear Channel which can be a double-edged sword.
Cons
Many upper management changes seem to occur every two years, restructuring from Regional VP on down. Corporate initiatives are driven from San Antonio with little help in executing at the local level. Lots of workers have 9-5 mentality.
Advice to Senior Management
Please go beyond the 'managing by walking around' approach, and actually respond to issues in a timely manner. Reign in a few of the senior Account Executives whose attitudes have no place in the workforce anymore.
Pros
It is a good opportunity to work for some of the top radio stations in the marketplace and attend fun events.
Cons
Management encourages a cut throat atmosphere putting one sales rep against another. They do not have any systems in place to protect or manage the sales reps leads.
Pros
Fun people, own desk, own phone, good commission, can make good money, must be able to make many cold calls and accept no for an answer
Cons
Cold calling, difficult to get things done through corporate, radio is dying, changing the commission structure frequently, always too busy to help people or be helped.
Advice to Senior Management
You really need to make sure all employees get the help they need in order to make a sale. Materials and information is not readily available and it should be. Good music on the stations though.
Pros
Never dull, fun exciting, free tickets to events, meet famous people, laid back work atmosphere, casual dress code, no time clocks to punch
Cons
No room for advancement. Very low pay for the work. Unachievable goals. Long crazy hours. Fear of being laid off at any time.
Advice to Senior Management
Management could take the time to learn what each employees responsibilities are and how they play into the function of the organization. Stop making decisions on things you are educated on
Pros
Fast pace - - Big company name
Cons
No direction from upper management -- Genaral Manager has the worst people skills - lots of promises and no deliver...........worked their for a couple of years and commission structure keep going down
Advice to Senior Management
Care about you people and mean it -
Pros
respectful employers, lots of fun events to attend, great learning experience, wonderful working environment, very friendly staff, mutual respect between managers and staff
Cons
sometimes boring work, a lot of administrative tasks, not much room for growth, learned a great deal about promotions but not a lot about broadcasting
