    Pros

The perks, the people and if you get a really good general sales manager, the mentorship. There are great people at Clear Channel. The training they provide is top notched. Advertisers have an avenue to a number of ways to get their message out effectively. The radio stations themselves are usually in the top of the ratings because they play what their listeners want to hear. Overall, there are good things about Clear Channel.

    Cons

Some of the downsides of working at Clear Channel include long hours and the possibility of working under a junior sales manager who may not be willing (or able) to give attention to all sales team members. Also, there is this aspect of the accounting department in which they kick back an account for payment to the sales rep. The sales rep's job is to develop the customer relationship and keep it moving forward, not to micro-manage the accounting aspect. Yes, there will be times when the sales rep needs to make mention that the invoice is due, but it is the account department's job to follow through.

    Advice to Management

Have junior sales managers go through a comprehensive training on how to help their sales team succeed.

    Pros

Fun Filled Environment. Great Team Atmosphere.

    Cons

The pay is much lower than average opportunities depending on region, and the benefits are pretty bad.

    Advice to Management

Rethink employee satisfaction in regards to salaries. The hiden nickname is cheapchannel. The environments are casual Work Hard Play Hard. Take that to the max by implementing employee suggestions, recognition awards, etc.

    Pros

It all depends on how your region/station handles themselves. Clear Channel rewards stations that perform well. There were several times our station received bonus for the great work our sales team did. Leadership was tough, and expected results. Co-workers were very nice and good people to work with. Most of the team was young, but some veterans on the staff were very helpful and informative.

    Cons

Constant downsizing and need to find areas to make money. If a station is struggling, extra money is not added. Instead, cuts are made, which will eventually kill that station. Many times, you were expected to work much longer than your work day.

    Advice to Management

    Better people skills.

    Pros

CCO has a great work environment. Good for those that can manage themselves to get work done. Training is non-existant but out-of-home media is easy to catch on to. NO micromanaging. CC Radio is a whole different story... Salary In a top 10 maket: starting at 45k with draw, 2-3 years at 65k and 4-5 years 95k and up.

    Cons

Be friends with your managers as they only give house accounts to those '" who deserve them

    Advice to Management

need better dist of house accounts and training

    Pros

Easy jobs, most of the time I sit waiting for other people to get their job done; but still get paid for it. It has it's benefits of getting free stuff or free food at times; but I love interacting with the listeners.

    Cons

Sometimes, the cliques seem to form and if you're not someone who's driving a BMW, or all up on the latest trends; you seem to be left out of different things. A lot of the time, part timers are treated as if they don't exist within the staff of a radio station.

    Advice to Management

Acknowledge part timers more; give more praise, and offer more benefits. I believe that stations need to be live 24/7, instead of pre-recorded.

    Pros

Working at Clear Channel was a wonderful Experience. My salary was great, my health benefits were good, and the perks of free concerts, movie premiers, meeting celebrities, and the great work dinners and lunches were even better. I loved my co-workers, and it was a very family-oriented work environment. I feel that as long as you did your job, and did it well, you had nothing to worry about come lay-off season.

    Cons

While working at Clear Channel was a wonderful experience, it was a challenging experience as my position was very demanding. I felt like I was working 24/7, and I didn't have a life outside of work at all. For me, there was little to no work/life balance, and eventually it took its toll. In addition to the heavy demand of my position, Clear Channel is very political — if you aren't careful, you'll become a pawn in some political warfare of higher executives.

    Advice to Management

Advice to management? Take your time to understand your market, and your employees. Don't let your lifestyle blind you from the reality of your staff and the audience of your radio stations.

    Pros

Great environment to foster passion and love for your career. Great pay once you reach a contract that allows for ratings bonus, and client sponsorship. Celebrity/artist interaction.

    Cons

Treated as a commodity and very expendable. Absolutely no job security, even when market is good. "There's always someone else that will do what you can do for cheaper money."

    Advice to Management

Invest more time developing the staff you have then looking for replacements. A little more focus on staff retention then cost cutting measures.
