    Cons

Some people are less than hardworking and motivated, but thats true everywhere. Very demanding management.

I worked at ClearOne full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The regular non-management try hard, are good people.

    Cons

The CEO brings her dog to work and it is allowed to bark and wander the offices freely. It constantly pooped and peed all over the offices. The CEO has the shortest fuse of anyone I have ever met. She will scream at the top of her lungs multiple times a day, and can be heard down the hall even with her door closed. She berates employees, micro-manages in things she shouldn't even be worried about. Upper management is rude and not effective. They also degrade employees, ask for the moon on impossible deadlines, and don't communicate effectively. HR is powerless to do anything, because they are afraid of the CEO and the repercussions.

    Advice to Management

The board should replace the CEO and upper management. We were told we were expected to do the job of 3-4 people each to keep the overhead low, and the company profitable. Its' a toxic environment that stifles creativity, innovation, passion, and excitement for the job, I was never happier to quit a job than I was here.

    Pros

This has been a great resume builder since I have been doing the job of about 4 people.

    Cons

This is the most toxic environment I have ever encountered. The CEO is sure that everyone is stealing intellectual property and that nobody is working. She expects 12 hour days and weekends from salaried employees, while at the same time limited hourly employees to 40 hour work weeks. There are cameras everywhere. She closely monitors the cameras to see if people are working. She has a terrible temper and screams at her employee in such a way that it can be heard throughout the entire floor. She is very demeaning and insulting.

    Advice to Management

Fire the CEO. Get someone who knows something (anything) about technology. Improve your product. Treat your employees better. The CEO drives all the good people away.

    Pros

Paycheck as someone else stated other then that nothing. CEO has poor people skills, her dog gets better treatment and respect. Lack of any leadership.

    Cons

Poor pay, no benefits, no respect, almost everyone is looking for a new job, once found they run. CEO hides important information needed by management to move the company in a positive direction. Fire the PLM's they lack any type of management skills.

    Advice to Management

Board should get rid of CEO and find someone who understands technology rather then stealing the competitors ideas, CEO should lead not disrespect employees.

    Pros

Not a lot of management if it is a pro

    Cons

like the wild west, have people lying and cheating creditors. acting like they are the customer

    Advice to Management

buckle up, have goals based off of real settlements, not off of cheating negotiators who lie, cheat, and steal. And management knows it and rewards it

Less than honest management who use people unscrupulously and then toss them aside when they're done with them.

    I worked at ClearOne full-time

    Pros

Market leading products and very innovative technology. Talented engineers and software programmers. Enjoyed working with most of the people. Benefits were good.

    Cons

CEO and PLMs (Product Line Managers) very difficult to work with due to unrealistic expectations. PLM was caught in deceptive practice and was reprimanded by HR Manager. In one years time, the Apps Manager, Purchasing Manager, Marketing Director, Marketing Analyst, Training Manager and Admin. Asst. all left the company voluntarily.

    Advice to Management

Put people first rather than using them as if they're expendable. Replace the PLMs, which aren't functioning as PLMs should and who have caused the majority of the company's problems (unnecessary stress levels and unrealistic objectives).

    Pros

The company has potential if only the CEO would allow the people to do the job they're hired for. That potential however is never realized.

    Cons

From a sales perspective you are significantly underpaid versus the competition. You are told that you can not do sales calls with your sales engineer or sales manager because there are no four-legged sales calls allowed for any reason. While traveling you are provided a low end dinner allowance and must spend your own money to eat, stay in rat-infested hotels, not allowed to buy a customer lunch or dinner unless it is the price of McDonalds (no kidding) and you get permission from the CEO first. She approves every expense in this company and if you don't have permission first it is rejected. That for over 200 employees. This company is so frugal that you only get one company shirt for a trade show because the policy is no more. And that shirt has been retread from employees that have left. The CEO is nasty to all of her people and is heard over and over again talking about how incompetent everyone in the company is. She talks behind everyone's back including her management team and is involved in every single decision which does not allow her employees to be empowered. This includes hiring decisions. She hires people less than the job requires and low end clerks are enough for what need to be senior roles. This has hurt the company in many of the product lines in that Product Management is every inexperienced and can only make decisions based upon what the competition has already released. So ClearOne then releases a similar solution two years later. In a high tech environment there is no EBC and no way to adequately demonstrate the products in a professional manner to large organizations. Their video strategy is based upon the strategy of the day with very old products, rotating senior management, and a product line that is 10 years old.

    Advice to Management

There is no advise that can be given. I have observed several people come into this company and try and change things for the better only to be quickly moved out.
