    Excellent place to work

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Salt Lake City, UT

ProsInnovative products and co-workers that really have formed a strong team. Stable company and hard working employees that really get along well together.

ConsEnvironment can be a bit dry at times as management is made of engineers. They could allow a little lighter touch and a little more self expression for the employees - especially the work areas.

Advice to Senior ManagementAllow a little more flexibility and creativity in your employees.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

The worst company I have ever worked for. Toxic, negative, and unpleasant

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Salt Lake City, UT

ProsThe employees that work there tend to be really good people that try really hard at their jobs, and work hard at what they do. My happiest day was my last day working there.

ConsStarts with upper management, especially the CEO. She is rude, a micro-manager, and a impossible woman to work for. She literally yells at employees, and can be heard throughout the office, even with her door closed. She has to be involved in every detail of every project that an employee is working on. She has a dog that constantly barks, and leaves messes by employees' desks and in the hall. Other upper management don't respond to emails, don't provide the information employees need to complete their jobs. The average employee works 9-10 hours a day straight without taking breaks or lunch. Many work from home and on the weekends. The company had a record year, and no bonuses were given as promised. Everyone is afraid of the CEO, as she has a short temper, and no one wants to be on her bad side. Toxic environment - employees were required to remove anything non work related from their desks - so no photos of family, no calendars, nothing is allowed.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe CEO has been heard to say that she has to do everyone else's job since they aren't qualified to do it. She has said multiple times that employees must do the job of 3 people, or they will be replaced. She yells, insults employees, and has made several cry during work hours. It's a terrible work environment, and talented employees are leaving the company at a rapid rate.

    horrible, back stabbing environment

    Channel Manager (Former Employee)
    San Francisco, CA

Prossolid product, however, it's VoIP is 3 versions old, their video entry level model has fish-eye and their headsets are not wireless..

Consthe culture is very old school. they use a Henry Ford Scientific Management model instead of a Covey model. Upper management are just not into the people business. it's like people at HQ, those closest to the CEO, come to work and can't wait to find something that someone did wrong. People walk on egg shells, it's not a trusting environment and they listen to phones calls, not to help improve your communications, rather, it's to see if you're talking badly about the CEO.

Advice to Senior Managementcash in a get out. that's all they are after anyway. they use an EoL MS server for their MCU, they are three version old on their VoIP, no functional CRM so all reportts are manually submitted via Excel and their VP of Sales can't spell video.

Unproductive work environment and poor package and benefits

    Sales (Current Employee)

    ProsIndustry leading technologies and Products

ConsExecutive management is conducting research to demotivate their employees. No Sales Management....No Long term Goals.........

Advice to Senior ManagementYou need to believe your employees and learn to motivate them...Empower your employees with more responsibilities and believe them to take the company next level....Plan for Employee Training Programs ..

Toxic environment, draconian style micro-managed dictatorship.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Salt Lake City, UT

ProsSome very good people, and great technology. Interesting products, and the company has a long history of market solutions and communication applications.

ConsNo authority, no trust, no empowerment. If you want to work for a company and be a unit-of-production then this is the place for you. If you want to be told how to do your job then apply now. If you want to be forced to work 12 hour days, and love working every Saturday and Sunday and late every night, then make a be-line on over and you will enjoy yourself.

Advice to Senior ManagementServe your employees, trust your employees, empower your employees, and you will find out that your people are your best resource.

My best advice is to allow the people you hired to actually do the job they were hired for. The other thing that would instantly make the company better in every way would be to remove the leadership and let anyone else in the company run the place. If that were to happen then not only would Clearone be a better place to work, but the company would exceed in every area.

Wonderful people in a nightmare environment

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

    ProsNice employees
    Nice physical environment
    Profitable company

ConsHorrible executive management rely solely on fear and intimidation
Incredibly high turnover in mid-level executives
    Constantly tense environment
    unreasonable expectations of working hours

Advice to Senior ManagementTake a hard look at why the turnover in sales and marketing is so rapid
People respect leadership and respond well to a positive workplace, they are not slaves to be cowed and intimidated

    It was a paycheck.

    Engineer (Former Employee)
    Salt Lake City, UT

ProsProfitable company with interesting technology. Free t-shirts coffee mugs, and other silly HR gimmicks.

ConsManagers outnumber engineers by at least 3 to 1. Pay raises are meager. You have to really negotiate your starting salary because once you're hired, all you'll get are cost of living increases (2-3%). Get another job offer and they will always match it though.

Be prepared for a lot of managers who are afraid to make a decisions. Managers make goods decision and they go unnoticed. They make a bad decision and they get shown the door fast. The result is that they are very indecisive.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire at least some new managers from within the company and listen to them.

A learning experience; with a different Executive Team it would be a good place to work.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsNice facility, I enjoy the team members I work with.
It has interesting challenges with a variety of new projects.

ConsSome of the policies are counter-productive, the executive management feels it necessary to micro-manage every aspect of the business and approve every minor decision hampering productivity and not utilizing the potential of the employees. They create an environment that stifles personal initiative and creativity. The Company needs to do better market research prior to investing in new projects.

Advice to Senior ManagementEmpower the employees more, give them more authority. Trust the people you hired to do the jobs you hired them for. Operate and give direction at the upper, strategic level, not at the tactical level.

    Unproductive Work Environment

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    ProsInteresting products
    Great employees
    Interesting opportunities
Nice location to work from. Easy to get to and great views of Salt Lake city

    ConsMicromanaged atmosphere
Not a team environment. Executive team purposly causes contention between departments
    Nights and weekends required.
    Constant yelling and belittling
lack of direction for the company offered by the executive team

Advice to Senior ManagementLet the managers of the company run their departments,
Let the CEO focus on CEO related issues and not get involved in the day to day business of each department
    Develop trust in your employees
foster a team environment that people are comfortable working in and you will get them to work more hours, and you will get a better work force.
