    Pros

Medical benefits. Majority of people I work with share common values.

    Cons

Need to look for a different position for career advancement/promotion. Would be nice to see annual raises rise above the standard 1.4%.

I have been working at Cleveland Clinic full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Flexible hours (research), health center, one of the few biotech opportunities in northern OH

    Cons

Institution doesn't support basic science research as much as clinical; more interested in saving $ than supporting research. Spent a ton of money on "engagement"- yet really never followed through. It's all about "looking" like the greatest employer than actually BEING one. (i.e.- if a PI brings in $$- then they can treat their employees as nasty as they like). I have a great boss- but many PI's are not respectful.

I have been working at Cleveland Clinic full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great people to work with. Leadership generally open to individual strengths.

    Cons

Sometimes don't walk the talk. Too much focus on leadership training and not enough on the front line development. Could use more OD interventions on all levels: individual, small group, and organization wide strategies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow for different perspectives and get rid of status hierarchy. Don't discount what people bring to their jobs from former experiences.

I worked at Cleveland Clinic as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

-Learned a lot about working in a multifaceted business environment, combining the clinical aspects with business ops
-My mentor was very engaging, let me take on roles most interns may not have
-Participated in multiple meetings each week, great group environment
-Great brand to have on a resume

    Cons

-Internship was unpaid, but they did give me free lunch vouchers

I have been working at Cleveland Clinic full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Very helpful employee network that is willing to help you learn. Great benefits, great hours. A place to advance in your career and education expenses are paid for.

    Cons

The parking could be closer. The shuttle service is convenient and safe, but a parking garage for employees only would be a great morale booster.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay reviews should happen more frequently for new employees after they have proven themselves to be loyal to the company. Employees should be acknowledged with special gratuities when they have gone beyond the required performance.

Current Employee - Patient Service Representative in Cleveland, OH

I have been working at Cleveland Clinic part-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Excellent, dedicated staff. Staff members really care about the patients that they serve. I also like the fact that the physicians are salaried, It would seem like that would save money by avoiding unnecessary tests, etc.

    Cons

I'm only a volunteer so there may be things that would bother paid employees to which I am not exposed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    None from me.

Former Employee - HIM Coder Trainee  in  Cleveland, OH
Former Employee - HIM Coder Trainee in Cleveland, OH

I worked at Cleveland Clinic full-time for less than a year

    Pros

None, HIM should focus of obtaining a process where they could screen potential coders other than HR. Along with having a broader qualifications to being a coder such as prior clinical experience as allied health professional or MD/DO knowledge set should be considered experience for being an HIM Coder I, I, II, or IV.

    Cons

Low pay. Based upon cost of living and commuting. HR wants certain individuals to only work for 12.45$/hr?!?!?!?!?!?!
What is the point of acquiring higher education when I can work elsewhere for the same amount and be GM at a restaurant chain? CCF gains monetary funds from various sources yet can not fairly compensate their coding department?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give everyone a chance not who HR think is a good "fit". Hiring MGMT should conduct hiring screening which probably would shorten the time for job applicants seeking employment a faster process.
