I have been working at Cleveland Clinic full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits are really great. No high deductible insurance plans.

    Cons

Salary is not up to par with the industry. Depending on what field you work in, it can be kind of hard to move up within the company.

I worked at Cleveland Clinic full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Pretty good benefits, especially if you go to CC doctors. 403b with employer match, along with a pension. Give some education assistance and was encouraged to take classes. There were also opportunities to learn new things and get involved in special projects if you were interested. We were offered learning opportunities to expand our knowledge on equipment, medical procedures, or anything that was suggested from the group.

    Cons

Pay is a little low especially for engineers and the annual raises usually don't even cover the cost of living. Management (Clinical Engineering) would change their mind often which would cause extra work. Some decisions that seemed simple would take months to be made and usually turned into something more complicated than it truly was.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sometimes the simplest solution is the best solution. Get more input from the workers that are doing the day to day jobs, not just from the managers.

I have been working at Cleveland Clinic full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

You could make an entire career out of all the opportunities at the Clinic, job-wise. People get in and stay for their whole careers (this is a mixed bag when it comes to trying to do things differently). The Clinic is well-respected externally and will look good on your resume. If you look hard enough, there are some really fantastic people working here.

    Cons

A VERY ego-driven, old-school organization. Leaders at the Clinic think they have everything they need, and are often not open to developing, changing, or admitting room for improvement. This is the most political environment I have ever worked in- people can be ruthless and often seem to be pitted against each other instead of working toward the common goal. This is not an organization that will look out for you, or make fair decisions about things like promotions and pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bridge the gap between espoused values ("every life deserves world-class care") and values-in-action (e.g. letting people go with no prior warning and leaving entire teams quaking with fear because they don't understand the decision and worry that they'll be next.
