    I worked at Cleveland Clinic

    Pros

In the beginning benefits, but that changed quick.

    Cons

Horrible middle management. Very unprofessional and incompitant HR. Extremely understaffed. Work was too excessive with inadequate staffing. Dirty work tactics. No privacy, everyone in my department knew what was going on in my personal life because my manager had no sense of privacy towards employees. I learned when I was on medical leave that my employess would discuss my personal buisness in our staff meetings. If you work in an environment where confidentiality is stressed why can't you practice this with your employees. This was brought to the attention of HR only for the manager to be called to HR, then the manager come back to yell at me after the discussion with HR. Way to go HR, you were trained well. It's all buisness and politics with the clinic. The true workers get dumped on and the horrible ones get away with murder.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually train managers to be mangers. Stop letting all the horrible workers get away with laziness and reward the compitant ones. Don't discuss one employees personal buisness with all other employees. We work in a buisness where we stress confidentiality so start practicing that yourselves.

I have been working at Cleveland Clinic full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

On the whole patient care comes first. The benefits are reasonable, though it can be difficult to muddle through the 'employee health plan' requirements each year. This prestigious name goes a long way on a resume in the healthcare field.

    Cons

The espoused value of 'patients first' goes only so far as to benefit those with MD behind their name. For example, nursing voices are by-and-large silent at this organization. Data shows that strong interdisciplinary teams create better patients outcomes - but the Cleveland Clinic seems determined to stick to it's "Physician-Led" model, even in the face of undeniable evidence that leaders can come from any discipline. The culture is espoused to be 'just', but those who speak up put themselves at risk. Peer organizations in the area are reported to pay more.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Front-line workers have an important voice - listen to them. Stop this silliness about only physicians being able to lead; if you don't change, you'll be left behind by a changing healthcare system (Where teamwork between disciplines provides better patient care than organizations where silos are enforced systematically).

I have been working at Cleveland Clinic part-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The People in our department are like a big family. Very friendly staff.

    Cons

No room for advancement at all. Try to pick up extra hours 7 months ago and were dragging their feet. Was promised a lead tech role and was then shot down.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Patient safety is becoming a big issue! Not only is it becoming unsafe for patients but it is becoming unsafe for the staff as well since hours are being cut. It's going to take a serious and series of events for something to be done to correct it but by then it will be too late.
