    Pros

Stable employment, solid benefits, decent salary, and opportunities to augment base salary. Union membership not mandatory, but very advantageous. Seniority matters, regardless of what popular media says. Ability to be creative in the classroom and to use available technology.

    Cons

Many administrators are either incompetent or unfair, resulting in numerous grievance claims against the district annually. Leadership is rotated frequently. Political pressures exist undeniably.

    Pros

The children are most satisfying part of the job. It is fast paced and there is never a dull moment.

    Cons

The administration is top heavy. Too many yes men agreeing to programs and processes that are unsupported, unsuccessful and fiscally unsound.

    Advice to Management

Stop destroying veteran teachers to save a buck.

    Pros

    Company has great benefits package.

    Cons

Everything else. Very depressing, top heavy, little room for advance unless you know someone. Teachers get all perks and bonuses as though no one else works here. 9 yrs and no raise.

    Pros

Lots of interesting experiences and colleagues with expertise.

    Cons

Cuththroat politics get in the way of doing your job. There are a lot of mean-spirited people in the district.

    Advice to Management

When it comes to management, the CEO has a seriously flawed people picker.

    Pros

The hours are good, and the scenery changes, if that's what you like. You'll never go a day without work, there's always a school that needs a Sub. It's great if you like being around children. Great experience for future jobs in Food Service. Great benenfits, summers off, holidays off!

    Cons

As a sub, compensation just might leave you looking for a second job; the schoolkids are often unruly, and can sometimes make the job a little irritating. Also, Sub Gen Preps don't get paid time off, holidays or paid summers, unlike the permanent cook positions. If you're working a high school, prepare to cook and wash dishes ALL DAY.

    Advice to Management

I think more training for new Subs is important, and should be emphasized. Also, a tiny raise in pay wouldn't hurt.

  8. A lot of changes...

    Pros

Good benefits package and summers off

    Cons

Conditions are getting worse and worse for it's employees, longer hours, no more pay increase based on years of experience...too many changesv

  9. It is a rewarding experience but challenging because you are constantly being transferred to a different school .

    Pros

If you get along with your co-workers in a inclusion setting you will like working here. Good Pay and good co- workers.

    Cons

There are far too many lay offs. Many teachers had to move out of state to get a job to Nevada and the Carolinas because they were laid off. I had too many students in my classroom many who needed one on one tutoring.

    Advice to Management

Hire assistant teachers for all special education classroom. Principals should be there to guide teachers not intimate them.

    Pros

    Good teachers who work hard.

    Cons

Poor management; Insufficient efforts to involve parents and enlist their support in educating their children.

    Advice to Management

Stop alibiing teachers for your lack of growth on standardized test scores.
