I have been working at ClickAway full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    - Get to learn new things such as lcd replacement, virus removal, etc...
    - Pay is decent if you make a lot of sales.

    Cons

    - Hourly pay is low for the area.
    - Lots of sales involved, on slow weeks, your paycheck will reflect this.
    - High turn over.
    - Have to constantly stop what I am doing to take care of new clients, slowing me down.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Would be nice if there was a person for sales and others for just the tech side of things to make the shops more efficient.

I have been working at ClickAway full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - if you like the people you work with, then its an ok place to work.
    - willing to train you if you lack experience
    - its not a huge business so its not difficult to contact management if needed

    Cons

    - if you get hired as a tech, expect to work as a salesman. You get a monthly goal that you have to set and if you don't hit that goal, they are pretty cut throat about making sure you know how they feel about it

    - compensation program that doesnt offer much incentive for techs and just turns them against each other to fight for jobs

    - theres constant monitoring from upper management. expect your manager or your district manager to constantly breathe down your neck all the time.

    - they dont care if the customer gets ripped off. as long as you make money, thats all that matters.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

allow your techs to do what they are very good at - being technicians.
there are some really smart people working here, but you are really cutting all of them short with the way you treat them. if you want to make more money using sales, then get dedicated sales people and let them fight over spiffs. your methods of increasing cashflow are very counter intuitive.

    Pros

Performance based compensation structure, which offers a great deal of possibilities but the time needed to to achieve a market rate salary is often equivalent to the amount of hours one would pay forward if he or she had two jobs, not one. For the leading (high paid technicians) the average salary could be anywhere from $60k to $130k but you are often working 7 days a week, 80 hours a week or more.

    Cons

Performance based compensation structure. If you are hired as a tech, most techs simply want to be a technician and not a sales focused employee as well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize that your greatest assets are both your employees and your clients. The happier the employees are, the better your clients will be treated and the more profit you will be able to obtain.

    I worked at ClickAway

    Pros

Unlike other similar places they actually provide OK health insurance + 401k and the senior management is semi-professional when dealing with employees.

    Cons

It's a computer repair shop: everyone looking out for their own cut and will step over you (and the customer) to get their profit as best they can.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue working on an employee compensation model that makes sense to both the customer and the company.
