    Stagnation

    Pros- Fun and Vibey working environment
    - Plenty of Company Outings
    - Potential for large bonus attached to company profit

    Cons- Innovation is always scrapped in favour of the way things have been done 13 years ago.
    - Long term staff protecting the status quo at the cost of innovation
    - Well defined values, but they are not upheld
    - Slow response to market changes
    - Decision making process is a mystery to the company except for those who attend the Executive retreat

    Advice to Senior ManagementAll this advice is aimed directly at the CEO.

    - Fire the entire eStaff. Most of the executives are using Clickatell as a stepping stone to pad their CVs and land a more prominent position with a bank or a US based tech company.

    - Split the company into two separate entities.

    - Allow the CMX business to be run by the "old hands" to milk it for as long as possible before SMS becomes irrelevant.

    - Force the CTX business to become innovative by restricting funding. The current leaning towards mass spending and "best practices" will not bring the desired effect of leading the market.

    Management lacks chemistry.

    ProsGreat solutions and loyal partners.

    ConsManagement does not get along with one another as well as their direct reports. Instead of inspiring their employees to excel in their line of work, they lead by fear-mongering tactics and pit employees against one another. Managers have often talked down on their employees and failed to execute on value added partner solutions. Although they say they have an open door policy, suggestions and concerns have all too often been overlooked.

    Advice to Senior ManagementGet off your high-horse and stop looking down on your employees. Maybe then you can salvage your business.

    Lack of vision, innovation and execution.

    ProsSaturated market so plenty of competing offers to choose from.

    ConsFor the 10 months I consulted with the company, I observed that management LACKS vision and innovation. They are scared to take risks and blow off strategic partnerships which could garner more revenues for the company. They fail to recognize opportunities to capitalize on evolving technologies and have not done anything to keep up with competitive offers. Projects are mismanaged and have poor execution when launching new websites, products, internal training, etc. One executive preaches about execution, but has been at the helm of failed web and product launches.

    Advice to Senior ManagementShape up. LISTEN to your employees.

    Slow Stagnant Setting

    ProsLegacy Business is still doing well –they are not running out of money or business

    ConsDo not listen to their claim of being like a startup, simply based on their VC funding. If you are not simply a “yes” man type, you will not want to be in the business. They will make your life miserable if you should ever question decisions or strategies, or try to be more engaged. The leadership does not want to admit any weakness, nor take actions to fix them.

    Advice to Senior ManagementProductivity and Accountability are critical. Without that you will never have the success you are working toward, and continue to struggle with at the slow pace you operate in currently. Skills matter in today's work environment, not seniority.
