Ok place to work

Senior Software Engineer (Former Employee)
Gaithersburg, MD

I worked at Client Network Services

ProsGood place to learn for entry level developers. Will get chance to work on different things. Work hours are not demanding, if the manager is nice the hours can be really flexible. I recommend for the starters.

ConsNot much career growth, the work will be routine after a year. Recognition is there for hard work but not for talent and ability.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet rid of incompetent mid level managers.

ProsGreat coworkers
Very smart technical staff

ConsBudget cuts so will set you up to be fired instead of layoffs
Hire H1B visas so they can pay less and hold them there since they cant leave till citizenship
Management is very confused about how to go about daily operations
Bad press for mismanagement
Management is NOT technical at all
Massive paycuts, furloughs, and no pay raises
Write bad reviews to justify no pay raises
Fire the best people because of their higher salaries

Great company to work for.

Senior, IDMS Engineer (Current Employee)
Washington, DC

I have been working at Client Network Services

ProsThe company is very professional and they take good care of the employees. Even in this down economy, they are trying to adjust the business to keep the layoffs to a minimum. Corporate management has spread the effects across the entire company, including themselves. As a result, there have been a very small number of people laid off. When there have been reductions, the company has provided a better that expected package to assist the terminated employees. The founders and executives have personally been involved with the process and offered corporate assistance to the laid off employees.

Policies are flexible and they are willing to work with the employees to come to a reasonable compromise.

ConsWorking at a Washington DC client. Commute is long, but bearable as the location is next to a commuter rail station. I wish the vacation policy was a bit more generous, but it's workable.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep doing what you are doing. I like the friendly and collegial atmosphere.

Prosdecent pay

Middle level management should learn to give respect to the developers

Senior Software Developer (Current Employee)

I have been working at Client Network Services

Prosco workers are very supportive

Consbalance between work and personnel life is not good. Middle lever managers are not treating the developers well.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease check the individual talents of the employees rather to believe in the middle management review.

Pay and benefits are good. Everything else? Not so much.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Client Network Services

ProsThe work is groundbreaking and the employees are excellent. Employees are proud of their work and are very committed. There is definitely a family feel here. Working at home on occasion is not usually an issue (due to weather, child care, etc.).

ConsThe Indian cultural difference is used as an excuse for the horrible communication among managers and employees; therefore, nothing is ever done to try to fix the problem. Women are not held in high regard as employees unless they have nice legs and/or wear high heels/skirts. Mid-management attempts to rule by fear and intimidation. When people leave the company, no announcements are ever made to the staff, regardless of the reason why the person left. HR is inadequate: they ask the group of employees to come forward with issues with management in the room. No real connection with senior management. No room for advancement.

Advice to Senior ManagementCommunicate changes in staff so other employees know what is going on and why. Manage the middle management, they need a lot of help!

Only good for a pay check

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Client Network Services

ProsDescent medical benefits, pay is reasonable.

ConsUnless you are an employee who is seen regularly, you are forgotten and simply become a number in a computer system. Career growth is limited.
