Current Employee – been working at Cliffs Natural Resources
Pros – Employee focused and friendly. Leadership is and shows interest in the employees. They do believe in work life balance. Good senior leadership. Compensation is very competitive. Friendly atmosphere at headquarters
Cons – Growing pretty fast has caused some employees to feel squeezed out. Still catching up on IT items and technology. There is limited knowledge sharing about what is going on at the mines.
Advice to Senior Management – Focus a little more attention at the mines. Employees there are essential front liners.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

Current Employee – been working at Cliffs Natural Resources
Pros – Pay and benefits package is by far the best around. On paper, the work force is treated well. Monthly bonus program and profit sharing help a bunch.
Cons – Management has unreal expectations of crews. I believe that maintenance crews need to really FIX problems rather than put band aids on. Management system is messed up. Can be as many managers as operators, many of which have a real disconnect with those getting dirty.
Advice to Senior Management – Continue to run programs such as gainshare and quarterly profit sharing. Do NOT change the benefit package. Must learn to promote from within in a more proper manner. Must learn to watch the activities of Section Managers more closely. Their disconnect to what happens day to day is definitely apparent.

Current Employee – been working at Cliffs Natural Resources
Pros – Good, smart, dedicated people working in the trenches. Great benefits. Adequate salaried compensation. Aggressive growth goals stated, although it is sometimes difficult to see how they intend on meeting them. Honest commitment to the safety of individuals. Laid back work atmosphere.
Cons – Generally poor communication. Good communication is really missing between Cleveland HQ and the mine sites. Company does not do a good job of integrating experienced newcomer talent. New employees experienced in technology and concepts proven in previous positions have difficulty being heard. Sometimes difficult to understand why some individuals are in some positions; at all levels. No good career path for technical guys, career growth is through management.
Advice to Senior Management – Honestly and proactively respect the Cliffs core values, they are more than just words. Choose your focus then get all your leaders pulling together. Establish "all inclusive" methods of using your employee's perspectives and experiences.
