Pros
close to home, have family member that works there, enjoyed grape season and working with the farmers of North east
Cons
plant manager had PET employees that were allowed to actually sit around all day, while guys that wouldn't suck up to him were disciplined for petty things. plant manager would rather act like he didn't care about issuesemployees hadthan adress them with his superiors. His favorite saying was"need to see where they are on the food chain" meaning that if they were his superior, he would NOT adress any issues
Advice to Senior Management
treat every employee equal. Processing Dept got ANYTHING they wanted, but any other dept had to beg for something, or buy it for the dept themselves. Don't have Pet employees, because than your pet employees feel they can have Pet employees
Pros
Fast pace of decision making
Good benefit package
nice office facilities
willing to try new things/innovative
team approach to projects
Cons
It's in Dunkirk
too much work/ not enough time & people
lots of email, but little communication
interdepartmental wars
lack of accountability - especially for operations
Advice to Senior Management
Restrict email use 1-2 days per week - require people to talk to each other instaed of emailing. Ban "reply all".
Pros
Outside of management, there are some good people there...
Cons
The owner would run through the building screaming obsenities because someone parked in his space! The glass ceiling for females was so thick, you could feel it on your shoulders each day. All about who you knew in the big boys club.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire leaders who have actual experience/education in their field. Hire/promote more female leaders. Get rid of the psycho owner! Give people a voice.
Pros
Employees get a slight discount on juice. Overtime is almost always available. They have health bazaars in the summer time with free lunches and gifts. They put on a nice Thanksgiving dinner for the employees and they have blood drives for the employees to participate in.
Cons
Terrible communication between management and employees, the poor distribution of the workload between shifts in the same position or the fact that one shift leaves all the work for the next shift and the manager does nothing to correct the issue, the FEAR of the owner walking through and firing someone for any reason he feels.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay more attention to the work performance of their employees. Reward the good, hard workers and punish the lazy slackers that goof off all the time.
