Pros
Supportive of professional and career growth. Respectful of staff.
Cons
The HR department is not very supportive or responsive to individual staff needs, especially if they have done something that adversely affects the employee by mistake.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue supporting the CEO, who has a great vision for where the firm should be headed. Also continue the values of the previous CEO, who treated the employees and their families as one big family.
Pros
Technical talent, collaboration, locations, favorable past history on partner resumes
Cons
Priority One feels like it protects firm more than helps employees when serious problems arise.
Advice to Senior Management
Too ideological. Her subordinates are not performing up to her ideology.
Pros
They care about work life balance
Cons
Very little mentoring or communication
Lots of career uncertainty
Don't feel valued as an employee
Favoritism and Cronyism are encouraged
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to employees when they provide feedback about their leaders and about the issues.
Pros
PA experience
some nice people
work/life balance (10-12 hours during busy season, sometimes 14, really not busy during off season)
Cons
disconnected group of employees (staff, managers, etc...) I work in Tax, there were days I came in to work and said no words to others. Not enough interpersonal connection.
Not a lot of employee activities, outing events
Advice to Senior Management
pay more attention to your employees. Let them know they are valued and appreciated. Dont play the favor game
Pros
You can get public accounting experience on your resume.
Cons
Work is based on quantity not quality.
Pros
Really great benefit package - tailored to fit employee's individual need. Top management/leadership support work/life balance - flexibility is embraced making it easier to balance family obligations with a good career. Leadership and management listen to staff about issues/concerns and actively work on correcting issues. Great training and development opportunities!
Cons
Growing pains due to recent mergers and acquisitions; still some morale issues because of communication/management style issues that occured in the past, but leadership has made positive steps in the right direction. Some whiners in the professional staff with hidden agendas who are unable to let the past stay in the past.
Advice to Senior Management
Stay focused on making positive changes. Keep up the good work. Continue to hold senior managers accountable for collaboration and communication. Stay true to vision of AEF 2015.
Pros
people really want better for the company
Cons
management has hidden agendas, not always honest. Rude and allow employees to disrespect other employees
Advice to Senior Management
Move the "old school partners and staff out".
Pros
Good work life balance and your schedule can be flexable.
Cons
Poor compensation and benefits. CG = Cheap Guys
Advice to Senior Management
Make an effort to care about your employees.
Pros
Nice people to work with.
Relatively easy job.
Not a lot of overtime (but when you do have to work overtime prepare yourself)
Good Pay
Cons
Not very good communication (thought they have been trying to work on it)
The job usually does not involve mainstream accounting work
Advice to Senior Management
Put yourself on your employees' shoes every once in a while. Other than that I think they are working on improving.
Pros
Conveniently located. Has interesting customers.
Cons
Prefers to hire those just entering the workplace so they don't have to pay as well.
